"Ritalin is actually an amphetamine-like drug, but in children it acts as a tranquilizer."

--why would you give this to children when it does exactly what it is NOT supposed to do?

Ritalin can be bad news, and it's excessive prescriptions never sat right with me. Kurt had a lot of issues, but I am sure this one factored in somehow.

That's what happens in today's convenience based society. Put everyone on drugs, instead of letting things run their course.

Some kids are just plain hyper. It's natural. Ritalin taught Kurt that anything could be solved with a pill. It put him, and Brad on the pathway to heroin, which killed both of them. I'd say that's a complete failure by modern medicine.

I am from a culture which does not believe in therapy ... partly because we cannot afford it but mostly because we have a whole slew of family - cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandmothers granddads moms dads - practically living in our hair 24/7. You share problems, you share laughter, you fight, you make up and generally celebrate emotions and life.

And isnt it a good thing if the kids are hyper-active? I mean that means they will get tired that much sooner and sleep that much better and even eat better and have great health and a great disposition!

Just my two bits

Not that I care if someone disagrees!
