I am getting one designed at the moment, it isnt going to be very bold but it will be intricate and represent my celtic/maori heritage....my grandfather who passed away last year was originally from scotland and I have a really affinity for the maori people of my country hence the maori bit. My Virgo friend is part maori and an artist and he is helping me design it...he has very set ideas on how it should look on my lower back it seems....he he he

Do they hurt? that is the only thing that worrie me...the PAIN of it all....lol

I don't wanna answer that question, mainly because I'm sure my pain tolerance is very high.
To me it feels relaxing and kind of arousing, like an erotic massage.

I have 5. My first one I got around my belly button, then about 5 minutes after that, I got my belly button pierced... only word of advice( and not because I regret ANY of my tat's ) if you are female and, plan on children.... think twice about the belly!
Have Fun!!! If it's your first, beware, you may become an ink addict!!

Just a little F.Y.I... be very wary of the ' know a guy...' situations.... tat's are one of those things in life that you will get what you pay for. You don't want to have regrets about it later. I like that design you have shown. Are you planning on yours being smaller or, about the same? I would guess, if the same, it may take more than one session.

BlueTopaz124 ~ Cool! I have one of those too... not the tiny stud though...but, no bull rings either.

I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo on my arm for a little while. I think I can handle the pain *fingers crossed*
I’m either getting a Chinese symbol or a cross. Later I might get a dragon on my lower back or under my belly button - but that's it.

Right now I don’t have anything tho.

I have always wanted a tatoo and I have always wanted my belly button pierced but I'm weak when it comes to pain!

I want my name Jennifer on my lower back in ancient egyptian.

I have always been obsessed with ancient egypt. Plus my cappy got me a beautiful key chain that says my name jennifer then behind it my name in ancient egyptian so that inspired me even more.

I want one badly. I'd want the letters small of course nothing, to big.

Gemstone,
Yes, it will be that big or possible bigger
(it will be a cover-up).
I know what you mean by the friend of the friend person.
I knew this Asian guy that had a spot in Harlem, he gave me the ankh and my tongue piercing which to me hurts like 100 tattoos (I let it close, but will probably get it redone since there is a possibility that I may remain self employed)but helped me lose like 15 lbs LoL all i could eat was hot and sour soup and egg drop soup for like a week

Water Nymph,
I have "love" in chinese on my back

Tranquil Poet,
Go for it! I don't know about the belly button, I heard whenever you pee you feel it or something for a couple of weeks, it may be BS though.
Take your Cappy to The Met on 1000 5th avenue. The Egyptian section is AWESOME and they even have a mummy there, maybe a couple if I remember. Go there.
I'm sure you have, but now since your feelings have grown, it's good to see it again.

According to www.inkedblog.com:

Maybe it’s a personality thing, but we can always spot the people whose first tat was on an ankle, versus an arm or a back.

So, what does your first tat placement mean?
Upper arm/Shoulder: Loyal, brave, and steadfast
Ankle: Flighty, capricious, and friendly
Leg: Serious, shy, and hardworking
Butt: Flirtatious, secretive, and insensitive
Hand: Artistic, sensitive, and aesthetic
Elbow: Rowdy, tough, and social
Back: Serious, artistic, and persevering.

I was planning on getting my first one on my upper arm/shoulder for my big 3-0. Heh... I should go with my ankle according to this.

Here's what I want to get on my upper arm:

I want it to be big... and I'd like the bloom to be slightly more open... taking up my whole shoulder... arms and leg wrapping around my arm I also want to throw a few butter flies in there to take up the empty space around the other leg.

Cute, eh?

oh my god leoelf! We both were planning on going in august!

We just spoke about it last week.

I have gone many times in the past...especially school trips. The last time I went was like like 4 years ago to accompany a friend that was doing a project for school.

The last school that took us there was banned from going back. The whole 9th grade got kicked out. We got yelled at by the manager. Don't even ask!

i have a tatt on my ankle(peace sign)
and one on my neck on the right side
it my pisces glyph in blue with my husbands intials in black overlapping the glyph
it about 2.5/3 inches long
the num. total for the 2 letters is 7
(neptune)
my husband has his glyph and my initials on his neck too , left side the two letters equal 6(venus) he also has two full sleeves and a back tatt
i love my tatt, people always ask me if its real cause the aqua. blue is so vivid.
only advice i have, make sure its something meaningful, get a good ARTIST/tattooist
& dont skimp on cost .

her tattoos are so awesome ~~~

It appears very similar to the tattoos done by Buddhist Monks in Thailand, which are done in many of the Budhist Monasteries. An example would be Wat Bang Phra, which is two hours north of Bangkok. It's believed to be an ancient Khmer script that hasn't been used for anything other than spiritual tattoos for approximately 800 years. I understand that actress Angelina Jolie has something similar to the image you forwarded to me.

For the Monks who perform the tattoos, and for the Thais who normally recieve them, the tattoo would have tremendous spiritual significance. Such tattoos are thought to be powerful amulets to protect a person from harm.

these are really incredible though...

here's the tiger ~~

Angelina Jolie has got a tiger tattoo to celebrate her offer of Cambodian citizenship. .

The Hollywood beauty stopped over in the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, to get the 12-inch tattoo etched onto her lower back. .

Thailand's Nation newspaper revealed the star used Thai tattooist Sompong Kanphai for the second time. .

Angelina says she flew out to see him after because his last tattoo, made up of ancient Cambodian script designed to ward off bad luck, filled her life with luck. .
During the latest session Sompong reportedly chanted an ancient hymn to bless her. .
Earlier this week the Hollywood star was offered Cambodian citizenship in recognition of her conservation work there. .

The 'Tomb Raider' star accepted the offer from Prime Minister Hun Sen.

She said: "He did mention giving me Cambodian citizenship, and I was honoured. It was a real thrill."

The 29-year-old actress adopted her son, Maddox, from the country two years ago.

She has since revealed she is building a house in Cambodia to help her son understand his culture and background.
http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebrity/1712004.htm

i've read also that the ancient khmer script on her shoulder is a prayer for her son.

aren't these incredible?

inspires me.
