this is Sinead O'Connor's album of traditional Irish songs. It's unbelievably beautiful. She has the most magical voice...her voice truly is healing. listening to her music repairs my soul and spirit in the most tangible way, and the result is always immediate. listen to this album and feel your spirit soften and revive. My Lagan Love Where Lagan streams sing lullabies There blows a lily fair The twilight gleam is in her eye The night is on her hair And, like a love sick leannán sÃ, She hath my heart in thrall No life have I, no liberty, For love is lord of all And often when the beetle's horn Has lulled the eve to sleep, I steal into her shieling lorn, And through the doorway creep, There on the crickets' singing-stone She makes the bogwood fire, And sings in sweet and undertone, The song of heart's desire

Good Morning Saffron Well, on your recommendation I will have to check out the CD. I love Ireland so much, and I do love Sinead's voice. I just find her to be kind of...well...annoying. Sometimes it's hard to separate the singer from the song. IP: Logged |

love to you sue kate bush's voice is divine and ethereal. i'd love to hear her version.dear Trillian...this album is more beautiful each time i listen to it. i'd suggest listening to it in a quiet place a number of times to really get a feel for its beauty. these songs definitely aren't lullabyes, but they have a chameleon quality about them...in that my babe goes to sleep by them at night, they're soothing... if i need inspiration, they provide that too. they're always very healing and uplifting, but at the sime time they can be very introspective... anyway, be sure to read the liner notes; sinead gives her own interpretation of the meaning of the songs and her take on them is quite original and interesting. i know she's very controversial...what is about her that annoys you? she says these days that she's no longer a fiery rebel, just someone who wants to add some to beauty to the place... to me, she's an outspoken, fierce, protective, highly original force with a spirit overflowing with love and kindness. kind of like you. What a lovely thing to say, Saffron. I read this thread last evening and thought about what it is that annoys me about Sinead, and I really couldn't come up with an adequate answer. Sometimes she has seemed to be foolishly misguided by her own good intentions...but how can I fault her for that? That too could easily be me. And I have to give her props for trying things that I wasn't brave enough to attempt. I loved her 'recovering Catholic' t-shirt (wish I had one!). Years ago, I was reading an interview with her, and she was complaining about the 'marketing machine' that the music industry is, and how money is essentially bad, the industry is all about money, so it's bad, blah blah blah. When the interviewer suggested she give all her money away and quit the industry, she got p!ssed off and said "don't be ridiculous." It's like she negates her own wisdom sometimes. And maybe that's what has annoyed me about her. But her voice...her voice...she must have gone to angel school to learn to sing like that. I'll think on this further. Thanks for the opportunity to re-examine my thoughts. IP: Logged |

Hey SaffronGuess what, I was in the local town near where I live and there was music playing over the loud speakers in the street. I recognised it was Sinead, but didnt know the song.......so i "wished "to get the song in my hands........ Shortly after, I was with my music teacher and he said he'd got a cd for me and yes it was the one you talk of and the track Id heard in the street was one of the trax, Moorlough Shore........beautiful it is too. But the track I cant get outta my head is Lord Baker.....OMG Christy's voice on that, u'd nearly wanna sleep with him for it wouldnt ye? Anyway, just wanted to let you know, and thanks Love

sue g, thank you for bringing up this thread, as it has been on my mind for days and seeing it again has given me the impetus to write.HedgeWitch (formerly knowns as Saffron!)--I did receive my CD and it's beautiful. I haven't spent as much time listening as I would like, but I am glad you recommended it as I know I will grow to love it. I've been meaning to write to you, too, and apologize for not. I hope you are well. I did post your dream over in Ra's forum, have a peek when you can. I'll write soon. IP: Logged |
