As many of us know, Linda was a Star Trek fan. she mentioned kirk and spock many times. Yesterday we lost another crew member, "SCOTTY", James Doohan passed away at 85. We lost "BONES" Deforest Kelly awhile back. May they rest in the stars until that ship comes for em.

I was raised on the OLD Star Trek with Captain Kirk, Spok, Bones and Scotty. Every night at 6 p.m. my brother, Dad and I would watch it religiously on Channel 2. Did you know he was Canadian? Then how did he get a Scottish accent? Or was that just for the show?IP: Logged |

Neph..It was just for the show, before he got the role on TOS (The Original Series) he had done over 2000 radio and tv apperances and he was known for many accents he could do. so when TOS came along he got the part, Rodenberry said that all of the characters were parts of him, except for UHURA...he and she dated in the 60s, but he was dating another woman at the same time, Majel who would become his wife later. so after he and Nichelle (uhura) stopped dating he told her, he had something planned in the future for her, she was like "okay if you say so" which later led to her character Uhura. when the first pilot was aired Majel was the 1# under the captain. NBC complained about a woman being second in command, a black woman on the brigde and that green/devil eared guy called a vulcan. so Gene told them he would get rid of the woman being second in comand, but the fine black lady stays and the vulcan can have regular colored skin...which is why Spock is half human...lol. Majel who played the second in command, NBC didnt like her, so when Gene took her part away and made Spock 1# to the captain, Majel changed her hair color to blonde and became Nurse Chapel and NBC didnt even notice...lol. SO James Doohan did a great job as Scotty. its funny, Rodenberry couldnt get anyone to look at his script, he was a police officer in LA, they say he went into this club that directors and such frequented and he told this one guy he better check it out or he would be on his butt...lol. well the guy did...so CBS made a interview with GENE, where he told them the whole story....they never called him back, but instead made LOST IN SPACE a SPOOF of STAR TREK (BUT STILL A GOOD SHOW).....Thank GOD and the HEAVENS for LUCY!!! "HEY RICKKKKKKKKKYYYYYYYY!!!!!" they took on STAR TREK under DESILU PRO, and we got the best damn show on tele. when i think of the Gene Rodenberry story...knowing he was from Texas and his father was like the most racist man in the state...I think of this guy...had a dream, that all people should be as one, that way we would succeed....I get so mad seeing the immature fights going on here over stupid things like what thread someone put up....I think of GENE via my film school instructor and I think of these words..... WHEN YOU PLAN AHEAD PLAN CAREFULLY AND WHEN YOU STOP TO THINK.....DONT FORGET TO START BACK UP I am sure Gene Rodenberry thought of this when he dreamed up STAR TREK HEY U GUYS.........ENGAGE and MAKE IT SO!!! the last series ended on May 13....a 4 day...i got really emotional about it ending on the 13 and it was friday. But I just thought about 4 & 8, fate and destiny. the show ENTERPRISE ended, with only four seasons. It turns out that CBS that owns Viacom, the president does'nt like Star Trek, which is ironic cause CBS is throwing a new sci fi show.SO, this group raised like 3 millions dollars to get it back on the air..i may not happen now, but eventually star trek will be back on the air. for now, we got reruns....lol. I got a email from the group and they wanted everyone to write letters to the actors of Enterprise because they felt that maybe the cancellation of the series (they usually run 7 years) was there fault. I just couldnt write good actors letters and say, "here is my breast suckle from it for comfort" it was the networks fault..they just didnt advertise Enterprise enough. it would have been better off on CBS or the Sci Fi channel, but viacom people are idiots..you ever hear the term"once you get in management, you lose all Common sense" Enterprise was on Viacom, UPN. UPN was probably the worse place for it, but since Viacom owned UPN, it was basically free for them. the problem is UPN has become the uppity up station for Minorities and such. Mucho Black shows, some teenage shows...nothing on those shows...I am a minority and black, but Black people just dont watch Star Trek, I was at a convention once and one guy, myself and maybe some klingons were black (but that might have only been there makeup..lol) they had it on the wrong time, and such. Star trek has been more of a conservative show, meaning the older generation is their fan base, like me and AZ..lol. Paramount, the mother company, would have really had to get upbeat to get the younger generation of America to watch it. in the end they said it was just to expensive a show to make, no one is watching it, that means no commercial slots from big corporations..most of the commercials during Enterprise were UPN previews, but no Tide, or beer commercials, they werent making any money so they dumped it, but they are the ones that screwed it up, and maybe that was the whole plan the last episodes were incredible, they depicted a dash of 'next generation, TOS, DSP, and voyager...all the old shows...you saw them in the last episodes of Enterprise. the even explained why the Klingons in the original series didnt have ridges on there heads, and the later ones did. it was great writing, but too late to save the show...bummer. SO...Scotty Has BEAMED IT UP WITH HIM FOR A WHILE...him and BONES UP THERE, rippping how leonard Nimoy still looks like a green blooded devil....lol. IP: Logged | |
