I'm interested to know what everyone out there thinks about the christian view point on heaven and hell. I totally believe in God and believe Jesus is the Son of God, yet there is something deep within me that doesnt quite grab the thought of spending eternity in a dark horrible place for believeing or not believeing certain things.

I guess all this stuff has been on my mind as there is so much death around me at the moment, four members of my family have passed away in the last year and my Nana has terminal cancer and doesnt haven long to live, so i have been pondering it all very deeply.

I look forward to all your thoughts on the subject......

First I offer you my condolances, and then I offer you Love and Light, to help you through.
You know the saying "As it is Above, so it shall be Below."
My persoanl belief is that Earth is being referred to as hell, this is where we go through all our trial and tribulations
No being condemned in a pit of fire.
And Heaven is above,
But soon it will all balance out. With Love and Light, and all of us being there, for one another. For we are all brothers and sisters.

I was raised a Christian, but I'm open to new ideas.

I think that ultimately even hell will be broken free, and every single person who has ever existed will be in heaven if there is a heaven. An all-loving god wouldn't leave his people in dispair.

That's my opinion.

So that means to me that, the Lord is our brother and God our Father. I also see Jesus ask us to raise up off of our knees, that we are the same as he.

Salone Star, well said, I was raised in a strict catholic family, I believe, that if you read about all the different religions, you'll find they're not so different after all. The stories all seem very much the same, but with different names.

And, Yes Peace will be on Earth as it is in Heaven...

Um... well, what I think about hell personally is probably more in line with Islam than Christianity... I don't think God would send us into a firey pit to burn forever... I mean, would you do that to your children? If there is a hell, I do not think it is eternal. Besides, if we all went along with our religions, and said everybody who didn't believe what we did was going to hell, we would all be going! So, I just can't believe that... I think anything done that is right, and unselfish, is going to be accounted for, no matter what name you do it in. Anybody who has read C.S. Lewis' 'the Last Battle' would know what I was talking about. I think we are all born with a sense of right and wrong, and religion does help to enforce it, it just doesn't need to be taken so gung ho. Spirituality is a thing given to you naturally by God, where as religion is man-made. Whice do you think is more pure?

I believe hell exist inside us. But I don't think there's any such actual place. Thinking stricktly logical: if God is Love and God is Everything then even if "hell" existed it'd be Love.

First quote....do not overthink it.....the discarnates realm area...or heaven(above) if you prefer....they are no different than the incarnates(below..Earth..etc.)
If you are an as--ole in life(below)..you will be when you are not(above)
if you are a kind altruistic person in life(below)...you will be so when(above) discarnate.
Death of the physical does not instantly perfect a person....discarnates...ghosts...spirits...whatever nomer you prefer...are just regular folks without physical bodies.

Thank you for all your insights. I think i have relaxed my views so much more in the last couple of years...before that i was a firm believer in heaven and hell....my views were so rigid and in line with what my church congregation believed...but now having travelled and experienced so many different things and cultures...well i guess it just made me see nothing is that cut and dry.

God is real for sure. I can never doubt that..but my interpretation of who he is and my relationship with him is much healthier now that it ever has been...thanks in part to so many of the wonderful people i have been blessed to meet through LL.

Thank you everyone for being such individuals and for not being afraid to express your views and feelings on different things within LL. You are all truly amazing, special, unique people.

I honestly think we have defiled religion so much, that it is no longer just an expression of God... Although it is in a way, there does need to be a balance of good and evil in the world. There is both inside of everyone, and everything on Earth I believe. That's what free will is, the ability to make your own choices, and we all screw up. That's why there is that evil in the world, but we need it or we would never learn anything. I think God made the balance for us to learn to take the pure things, and not what we've "defiled" as I said earlier...

I think 'hell' was integrated into Christian doctrine as a scare tactic. When the Roman Empire fell, there was a large power void. Who better to fill the void than the Church?

With the forming of the feudal system, the Church become the ultimate power. With uneducated serfs in virtual slavery, 'hell' became a means of maintaining control.

It grew to a point the Church was selling 'indulgences'. That is, a person, usually a peasant, could pay the Church a fee, and have a deceased relative 'rescued' from hell.

I don't believe in a heaven or hell. We are a continuing entity or thing, always changing form, just as any form of energy changes into something else. It's still there, because energy cannot be created nor destroyed.

Just love it, you two!!! Battle of Evermore and whalewasp78, very will felt. I believe that God is only, truly felt from the heart. I try to do my part by following my heart centre to make all my discerns in life, not my ego body tempting me. For the flesh (matter,form) is weak, and mixed with emotions, can really lead one into feeding ones own s-elfish ego. Temptation, for the flesh is weak. The key is where does one take heart or have it for that (matter). Taking heart is where its at.

I think thats where I find all my true healing and balance in this universe. My centre of my heart, the inner s-elf is God, Higher s-elf, all is one and the same thing to me. We are as one!!!

Sorry for just ranting on there, but you guys get me so excited sometimes and it really strikes deep down to the core of my heart. Thats what I love about this place the most!!! It can really shine alot of light on one!!!

I don't need a temple, church, set religions or groups to conform too one mans take on it. I only need heart to know that we all as one, hold a piece of the truth and one day we will be as one faith and belief again.

Let the truth be knowing for it does set one free!!!

I have always been taught, that the heart does hold the truth!!!
