Alright. it was the last 5-10 minutes, and the song played during it was just this deeply moving song, sung by a woman. He name is Sia if I recall. Think young Tori Amos meets Lucinda Williams(whom I both love equally).Anyway, Claire had packed up her things in her car and was heading to New York. While she was driving and this incredibly emotional song was playing, the show flashed us to the future to how everyone in the family dies, where they are, what they're doing at the time, etc. It just blew me away. The level of emotions I had during this reached thier height. Over a freaking TV show~
So for some reason I mourned thier loss and I suppose it's because I was so engaged with this series adn characters. The characters were so real, and death is one of the most interesting things to think of for me. It gave me perspective on my own children, husband and family. To think that no matter what we do, we all die. To think of my aging relatives, dh's mom/dad.. knowing I will have to live through thier losses. That is if I do live at all. There are no guarantees as we all know.
We ARE NOT alone when we die, and death can be incredibly painful yet beautiful for the one's dying. The people the dying leaves are alone, no matter the consoling, when we lose someone, we lose ourselves a little bit.
The first person to go was Ruth (the mom) and they flashed forward 20 years, and on her death bed, Nathanial and Nate Jr. were both waiting for her on the otherside with encouraging smiles. As if to say, "come on home mom" ...She drifted off to her death.
And then they showed one by one, all the main character's death.
Very moving. I hope everyone has a chance to watch.
