Spiritually Speaking…
"Introspection reveals the beauty contained in the storms of life..."
by Sheila Bautz

Self-evaluation… It encourages one to reach the very depths of their being in order to evolve into an awakened spiritual state. As a result, the circumstances surrounding one’s life, and the world in which one resides, can be greatly influenced in a positive manner…

Introspection takes enormous courage, for it causes one to examine and evaluate every aspect of the mortal personality and existence. Through this process, one becomes empowered as one discovers that each individual creates their own mortal reality; the Supreme Being’s generous gift of freewill.

By acknowledging our personality traits, recognizing them as diamonds in the rough, we become more sensitive to how our personalities and the examples we set touch the lives of others. As such, we begin to acknowledge that we are responsible for our actions and futures; instead of blaming external circumstances that have surrounded our lives.

Too many times, one chooses to become a victim of external influences. Through awakening to the power within, we regain control of our lives in this moment - the present - for no one can control anyone unless they have been awarded the power to do so. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to choose how their beings will evolve from external life circumstances, whether positive or negative.

It is also very important not to misinterpret the word ‘power’, for true power does not demand control over others through fear. This is a gross misuse of power. However, the proper use of power will benefit the individual’s life and the world around us as it manifests beauty through its proper use; such as the power of love, forgiveness, acceptance and positive change.

Choosing to become victims of our mortal ego’s and circumstances enslaves one’s being with negativity and creates violent storms in the life process. However, by eliminating its ‘false’ power, the storms quickly pass. It is only then that one may witness the beauty that is created by them. Many times, these storms manifest in order to capture our undivided attention, for every storm has the potential to replenish and strengthen the mortal being. Thus, one is able to rebuild greater spiritual foundations through discovering their inner strength and connection with the Supreme Being, if they are able to identify the purpose behind the destruction. As well, it is important not to merely ‘patch’ the damaged result, for one will be ill prepared to withstand the next storm.

Taking responsibility for our lives empowers us to diminish the victim within. As such, if we view the violent storms in our lives as opportunities to strengthen ourselves; and give daily thanks to the Supreme Being for the opportunity to evolve; we would perhaps recognize the invaluable worth in self-examination… After all, sometimes one needs to demolish a portion of an existing foundation that has weakened in order to replace it with pillars of strength…

This is curious to me:

quote:
Too many times, one chooses to become a victim of external influences. Through awakening to the power within, we regain control of our lives in this moment - the present - for no one can control anyone unless they have been awarded the power to do so. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to choose how their beings will evolve from external life circumstances, whether positive or negative.

I am not sure if she's advocating controlling other people or not. If so, she's being foolish. We can't advocate free will in ourselves and then think this empowers us to overrule the free will of others.

Normally, we don't have much control over external forces, and this evokes a great feeling of powerless in us. This is why we often fail to exercise wisdom and our own free will - we feel that sense of powerless over everything around us and we just resign. We stop choosing our actions according to how we want to live our lives, and just start reacting to things.

She does point out that we do have a choice of how we will respond to external forces. We may not be able to command many things in our lives, but we can command our own thoughts, words and actions, and through those be an active influence in our world.

I think she's saying that each person is responsible for their own reaction to external influences. You can let the external event get to you, and therefore let it have power over you, or you can use free will to consciously decide how you are going to react to any given situation. She's saying that a you can give another person power over you by allowing their negative words or actions to effect how you feel about yourself, and so on.

That is the way I read it too Gem......like if someone called me a f****** stupid idiot.....well I could say to myself, oh dear AM I stupid.....or I could feel in my heart that I am NOT stupid and affirm that to myself and the world.....

Dont get me wrong, this has taken me years to achieve and age brings more reassurance for me.......in my teens I was having a bit of an identity crisis so I was very affected what people said to me and so I didnt stand firm with my feelings......but now.....I can mostly realise that the person attacking is coming from their own low self esteem, anger, jealousy or whatever.

Once that inner light switches on......we just know where we are coming from and therefore allow others to affect us to a lesser degree......but I am still getting there.....slowly but surely!!

Does that make sense girl?

LOve to all
