Hey everyone,
I wanted to know what your favorite decade was.My dad loved the 50's(1950-1959).My mom loved the 70's(1970-1979).My hubby loved the 60's(1960-1969)he thinks the 70's suck because of disco.LOL.Anyway,my favorite decade is the millenium. Why? because it's different from the 20th century, and people are becoming less judgemental. The decade I dislike is the 80's(1980-1989).Even all 3 above agreed.

I like aspects of each that I've been involved in.

The 70's did have Disco, but it also had Punk and good rock. I grew up in the 80's. I loved doing my hair, wearing suspenders, listening to keyboard music, etc. The 90's would probably be my least favorite. Was the least consistent musically. It was like bad music interspersed with moments of good. The only really original things musically were Eddie Vedder's voice and Nirvana (that I can think of off the top of my head). The millenium has been pretty cool so far I think. Music is being reborn. New York is turning out good bands again (for the first time since the 70's really). The anti-style of the 90's is giving way to allowing for a bit more flair.

That's my two cents.

I loved the 70s cos I grew up during that time....loved the music...Bowie, T.Rex, Jethro Tull, Roxy Music, and then what was then called Rock.....metal it would be now....Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind etc.....I used to love going out and completely letting it all go....headbanging, or as we would call in....freaking out....hahaha....freaky Sue was my nickname.....

Oooh I used to wear loon pants, platform boots, tops with stars moons and clouds on....it was so far out.....I used to wear glitter on my face, hair, clothes, shoes.....that decade for me was SO colourful and fun......life seems somewhat dull in comparison now....

I loved the 60s too, the psychadelia, FREELOVE and all that but I was a bit young to remember....but the feel of it was amazing....flower power, hippies....cool, almost of another world.....

Must be getting old lads. I am reminiscing....hahaha !!!

Oh jeez, I really wouldn't be in a position.

I am reasonably certain that prior to our current president, Reagan's deficit was the largest our country had ever seen. Clinton took measures to pay down the debt, and was really making progress. Bush has wrecked all that again. So much for being conservative.

Since Reagan, the United States has not been out of considerable financial debt.

Reagan WAS an extremely popular president, though.

The 90's was just one giant mistake.
It should erased from history.

Only good things-
Nirvana, late Pixies, Oasis, Blur and the Spice Girls!

Fashion was awful, many sitcoms- dire, hair- a nightmare.

Thank god I was only a little kid at the time.

I'm sentimental about the 80's. I liked them a lot. Of course I wasn't listening to Mr. Roboto. I was listening to Depeche Mode. I was a gorgeous freak and I loved it.

Blurry webcam picture of a photograph of my junior high (13 or 14 years old) birthday party in the 80's:

Summer 1988 or so (Southern California -we were hosting one of the Koreans in the picture):

I'm so glad I missed the 80s

Er, at least didn't really "experience" them...the oldest I was while they were going on was 9

But I have to agree - the 90s do/did seem awful shallow...I don't know if I agree that the 00s are doing much better, though.
Perhaps musically, but I don't see much else going on.

As for what do I like?

Eh, the 40s

I know that '57 was a very good time for Jazz - did you hear about the T. Monk Quartet w/ John Coltrane Live at Carnegie Hall recording that was recently discovered and digitized?

Pure sweetness.
Wonderful transfer, too.

Prox,
I agree with you on the 90's.To me it seemed too political. As for 90's music,I grew up in the 90's nothing impressive.A very emotional time for me I was a teenager. The 00's music is the best.I'll remember the 00's when it's over because I got married to the man of my dreams.

I love the eightys too....AG looks like we are of similar age

While I was in India back then, we were flooded with Mr Jackson, Madonna, Wham (George Michael), Bruce Springsteen, Eurythmics...It was hip to listen to western songs. None of the discs played local songs. Come millennium, and now they play both.

I still only love popular music. I listen to Jazz sometimes. The millennium is good as well. People's knowledge is increasing.
Lot of nice mystical songs are also in the air these days.

this is a topic i love thinking about. i thoroughly enjoy trying to put my mind on the consciousness expressed during different periods of human history. i enjoy the the freedom of the 20s, the dawning of a new time period of expression in the night life and all. i also enjoy the 40s because i think the tensions of WWII would hve been exciting to have lived through.

1980=9,1989=9

Tell me if this sounds like 1980's(1980-1989):

The fall is changing to winter. You cover the ground with straw to protect the rich soil for next season's planting and care for those shrubs you've tended for some time now.Clearing the area of waste, dead leaves, branches, and stones, you're preparing a space that will be ready for future gardens.
Don't be alarmed at the regular used of statements such "I don't know or "We'll wait and see".You'll use these sentence more than once. You see the number 9 can be one of the best or worst times to go through. It all depends how will you understand the qualities of impersonal love, tolerance, and total objectivity.
You are more impressionable now and a dreamer of the impossible dream.Deja Vu or daydreaming will not be uncommon.9 will help you seperate what is no longer meaningful and aid you in keeping what is important,so that can succeed in making the seemingly impossible a reality.
Think of the 9 encounter as being like claening your closet or attic.During this time, others may start projects or plans and you'll be required to complete the finishing touches. In the clothes and papers of past experiences lie precious memories, like forgotten pieces of china found after being stored away for so long.Amid the waste, you stumble upon your lost treasures.
The process of elimination and taking stock of yourself and your possessions can be very misunderstood by those who transit this period, because it can affect all parts of your being as well as outside physical happenings. These divisions-which bring about compassion, selfless service, and compact polished results in the end-may instead be taken to mean pain, suffering or loss. For example, you could experience the seperation of an endearing friendship. On the surface this seems heartbreaking, but look again. It simply means that friend has left the path you were traveling to follow a diffrent fork in the road, while you maintain the direction you've chosen.
Whatever appears to be taken or broken really futhers your growth, for it will be replaced by something or someone more suited to your needs.Any losses or delays experienced mean the preparaion for the beginning of something else.
Emotions play a very important role.Control but not suppression is the key,and maintaining a broad outlook is vital. It will require that you view pictures of experiences as a whole story, not just look at them as parts.During this time you will expand your field of endeavor through research, study, school, teaching your knowledge to others,or being involved in philanthropic and humanitarian pursuits.
Number 9 is one of the "limelight" numbers that can encompass a larger viewing audience. You will be involved amid in front of groups of people through activity or entertainment.Books or movies on science fiction, romance or mystery spark more of an interest now.Group get-togethers,writing projects, meetings, seminars, and the like, all play a part during this period.
You will want to travel more.At least one of your vacations may include a long- distance trip.People from the past as well as individuals with diverse backgrounds make their entrance, some bearing gifts of expaned awareness. It's a time of gaining worldly experiences,as this transit provides tastes of a wide range.
A 9 contains a little bit of every number's experiences. It also suggests that while you strive to extend your boundaries, you don't become a jack-of all-trades and a master of none. You'll need to finish what you start, taking each situation, problem, project,or goal to it's designated completion before you begin in another venture.
It's a time of growth and a very dramatic time. You can be like a cedar chest full of valuable memorabilia and treasured rewards, collected and shared,by the time you leave this transit's threshold.

I love the 60s. I wasn't alive in the 60s but that's besides the point heehee.. I just think I would've liked those times.. I like 60s music.

Though, if I had a time machine I'd probably go wayyy back into the 17th or 18th century...then I'd go back to dinosaur times, I'd also wanna take a peek at the roman and greek empires, then I'd travel into the future, yr 3000 or so lol ok I'm going off on a tangent

YEah, MNF, I was adult height (at least 5'10") by 8th grade (the year I turned 14). My growth spurt was in 6th grade, and I pretty much stopped growing in height around 16-17 yrs of age.

I think Saturn in my first house may have had something to do with my appearing older earlier in life (if astrology really does come into play with things like that).

I didn't know about Clockwork Orange back when I wore those suspenders. I do own that movie now, though.
