Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone else has everyone heard or listens to the band Ooberman? I've been a big fan of there's for years, but sadly they've recently split up. They're the reason I discovered Linda's work after I picked up Gooberz in a charity shop because the cover reminded me of the covers of their albums - I'd never heard of the book or Linda before. I think there's too much coincidence in their name and the kind of music they made for them not to have been influenced in someway by Linda.

Thanks a lot. There's an old fan site about about them here if anyone's interested http://www.themagictreehouse.co.uk/

I'm a Libra with the moon in cancer and ascendant in Scorpio. I've only recently began to develop and interest in astrology so I'm still not entirely sure what that means for me but I'm starting to find it fascinating.

Good to see you Rob, welcome!

I found this on Ooberman;

quote:
Ooberman have dropped heavy hints that the band will be splitting soon.
Having just pulled out of this year's Truck festival, Ooberman band members Andy and Steve have both written unhappy letters to their fans.

"Basically the Oob is to roll no more," explains Steve, "The ambition and love of music is still there - thing is, certain people have gone and done a Kelly. I don't have the full story yet but fact is Dan's had enough, he's split up with Sophia (who also wants out) and is now in the process of closing Ooberman and Rotodisc down [Rotodisc is their own label]. Funny thing is he didn't tell us. Angry? D**n right. Sold a kipper? Yep.
"Is this really the end? Well it's hard to imagine continuing as Ooberman without the two front people of the band being present, but after talking to Andy and Jay there's a strong feeling of unfinished business in the air."

Andy says "'Summer Nights in June' won't be coming out as a single now, but you can still ask radio stations to play it or something else if you wouldn't mind! For old time's sake eh?"

Whether this means the band are definitely splitting is unclear but as they say, it would be hard to imagine them without front people.

If you want to leave messages of support, head over to ooberman.com and pay a visit to the messageboard.

Forgive me for dragging up an old topic, but I just found the inside album cover from Ooberman's second album and it's the one that the cover of Gooberz reminded me of. If nothing else, it's a great picture.
