I just receieved this in an email. Hey, this is "John Smith" wishing everyone a Happy Cashew Day today. Yes, let's celebrate the holidays by eating as many of these nuts as we can.
Cousin to the poison ivy plant, cashews are native to the Amazon and were eventually introduced by the Portuguese in the 1700s to India. Today, India produces most of the world's cashews.
Oil from this strange nut can be used as an insecticide and to make plastic furniture. Okay, so maybe we shouldn't be eating them.
OH, AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING, TOO!!!
