I know that it's a little goofy to praise a corporate giant for its Modern Folk Mix, but here I go anyway:
iTunes Modern Folk Sampler has some damn good stuff, especially as you get towards the end.
(The cuts get "deeper" as you progress.)

I've decided to give it as a gift to everyone this Christmas (in part to justify spending the money to download it).
Hopefully I'll expose some fam to music they'd like to pursue
