Yes, Aphrodite, I'm stealing your title blurb. Hope you don't mind.

Tonight's topic: Valley Girls -- not just another Hollywood creation. They actually exist!

So somewhere, out there, right now, there are actual living beings walking around to whom we could apply all the dumb blonde jokes ever told.

...and you know what really grinds my gears? Two "words" that English-speakers everywhere could do without. The instant identification of every carefully-crafted-I-just-got-out-of-bed-hairdo sportin', took-drama-classes-to-perfect-my-angst, shirt-cost-more-than-your-car wearin', pop-psychology-lingo-covering-my-mental-vacuum Valley Girl.

"Convo" and "natch".

***shivers***

I could retch. Seriously. I could retch up more from hearing those words than the sum total of retch that will be achieved by Knowflakes who are out getting sloppy drunk at this moment.

I'm sure there are other words and phrases that all upright-bipeds-bearing-frontal-lobes could do without. But those are numbers one and two on my hit list tonight. Feel free to chime in with some others. But don't bother with long-strings-of-words-hyphenated-so-they-can-act-as-a-single-word -- 'cause I've already used up today's quota of hyphens for the whole site. That was intentional.

Thanks for listening!

Personally, I can't stand that lazy-hand language. I always skip posts written that way. I thought it was just me.
I can't stand lazy-hand integrity either.

What's so bizarre about this thread is that I was lying in bed last night and in a foggy moment of semi-consiousness I actually thought about how much I despise the word 'natch' and that I hoped I'd never hear someone use it ever again!

How freaking hilarious is that?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels that way!

Love, what can I say? I'm tuned into your wavelength. After all, I'm a Libra -- the sign of you. In fact, when someone asks me 'what religion I am' or 'what God I believe in', I always say... you. Love.

Now, I'm going to be online aaalllll day Sunday, from probably noon 'til 3 a.m.. (Eastern Standard Time) Look down in my signature. I've made it disgustingly simple for you to get ahold of me. So... if some of you old-heads don't come and distract me from my programming tomorrow, I'm gonna cry. Okay? Yeah, that's right; I'm talking to you. This 'bulletin board' sh!t is great for posting essays and articles and lengthy rants, but the way y'all use it to communicate...?!? *Shakes head* Slow. Slow, slow, slow, and clunky. *In best Dr. Evil voice:* Come on, peeple. Get with the program here, mmmkay? Yeah. It's 2006 now. Bulletin boards were supposed to die out back in the 80's. Mmmhmm. Throw me a frick'n bone here...

Uh yeah, I talk like, a little like that.

For reals, I grew up in, like the Valley. Like Sacramento, California.

P.S. I got a Prada purse for Christmas . . . it's totally hot.
