Help- We need somebody.
Western Canada is facing a severe crisis in terms of employee/job ratio. Especially true in Ft. McMurray, the new hot bed for crude oil in N. America. We have casted nets locally, and throughout Canada, but are still running at 50% staff everywhere. If you have 2 feet and a heartbeat, you can make money in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. It's the modern day gold rush.

See you there - I hope.

PS. The 2010 Winter Olympics site, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, is also seeking construction tradesmen.

(It was awarded to Vancouver, and Whistler is the closest (very awesome) ski hill to Vancouver.)

AG, Canada would love to have you!

It's way far from me though, but if you're ever in the neighbourhood, I'd put you up!

In all honestly, lioneyey, why do you think there's such a shortage?
Do you think that it might actually be the, "Gah, Canada's cold!" reaction?
How's Canada's take on immigrants?
Would we be temporary residents?
Permanent residents?

All I know is that it is easier to immigrate to Canada than to the US.

Bah I say, Bah!
I didn't say I'd have get you 'up' in a cheap motel,
I said I'd put you up.
You know.
Here.
You could like, visit n' stuff.

Gasp are you a man? OMigawd, can't have that now....
*remarks on what a sl*t i am.

Besides, for anyone to comment, they'd admit that they are reading this right here, which they won't do because they know it is underhanded and they can preach it but won't 'expose' themselves by admitting it. I know their game.
Why anyone would play such weird games makes me laugh.. one of those gut laughs.

Seriously, you know if you're in Canada, I'd see you, you're my friend.*bubbles and hearts*

Prox, I live there, and I'm knee deep in the crisis. My main customers are hiring anybody who walks in (Suncor, Syncrude, Esso, Petro Can, Dow Chemical, Shell, etc.) As well as all the industries that cater to a swelling population - fast food, hotels/motels, restaurants, car sales, dept stores, schools, property development (Ka-ching here), construction, everything to do with the growth of a region.

I don't know about the US/Canada issue, but I know that it's easier for Americans to work in Canada than it is for Canadians to work in the U.S.

The major players have camps for their employees, because NOBODY actually lives in Ft McMurray. Most companies even pay a living fee, like $1600 per month in addition to salery. That's what PCL pays, anyway. I have a freind from Spokane who works for PCL as a purchaser in Ft. Mac. He works 10 on, 4 off. That means he gets 4 days off every 10 days. And they fly him to Edmonton for free, but he has to get himself home from there. Usually not a problem because he has a pocket full of cash. But it's easier if your family is in Edmonton.

I don't think I should spoon feed you. I think it's enough to tip you about this hot area. You'll do... what you will, with the info. Depends on you. Pid, we can use you, you sissy. You would be well compensated. And go home every 2 weeks, if you want.

Cool down lioneye, I've been checking out different sites through the day. Took you long enough to say Ft. McMurray wasn't a town.

There was no real city homepage. LOL.

Suncor doesn't have what I am looking for based on the website. I'm checking the others.

This makes me remember what Linda said about Canada having great potential to become a powerful nation. Maybe this is why. And it has the north-south thing going in its favor.

My husband and I have considered moving to Canada several times. He could probably make pretty good money there.

It's not very far from here... so the weather isn't that much different.

It's something that is still kinda on the back burner. We may or may not move to Canada some day.

I should probably go there to visit at least once before deciding to move there.

Honestly I wouldn't mind moving south for some warmer weather ..
but not at the cost of my soul.
Tar sand mining is, enviromentally, one of the nastiest industries ever and I don't think anyone could pay me enough to be a part of raping so large an area of land as that..

Okay.. the resident tree-hugger is sneaking away.. don't want to derail the thread.. carry on..

p.s. I mean just look at this.. it's like the moon..

Yes, there is toll to pay for all this gluttony. But it's happening with or without our support, and billions of dollars are flowing through this area, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's my motto in this earthbound life. I'm not above stepping up for my platefull. Is that wrong??

Pass me a platefull, I'll be gratefull.

I thought you were scouting people Lioneye. You sounded like a recruiter.

Is this all just the biggest LL prank of all time? See how many will strand themselves in Canada?
