I know, weird question..
I have one on the small of my back ( A Pixie).... and though it felt 'burny', as it was being done.. it was actually ticklish.
Like insanely so.. I had to hold on to the table to keep myself from jerking away and to contain the laughter. the almost two hour tattoo was torture for my nerves and funny bone...
BUT
My husband has come up with the great idea that it is time to get new tattoos, as we have been talking about it obsessively lately.

My brilliant idea is to put one on my foot (tiny red blossoms starting between my big toe and curving around, like being blown by the wind, and winding around to just below my ankle, on the side) Seven little blossoms with seven petals each.
( numerology I am a seven and it will commemorate our seventh anniversary)

ANYWAY..
I hear this spot, due to the lack of muscle mass or padding, is extremely painful.
Am I insane to want one there? ( It won't change my mind...) Has anyone had an experience with this spot? Top o' the foot tattoos anyone?

Cool, I found an image similar to what I want, only starting over the big toe and different blossoms...

That is one of the choice spots for my next inking adventure, I think it is a very sexy spot for a woman to have a tattoo.

My latest was so painful, on my back btwn my shoulder blades, that I have begun to research my next body part to be inked! I have actually gone up to people with foot tattoos and inquired as to the pain and most said the pain was minimal.

Being a RN, I know pain is a very personal thing, pain thresholds are all over the place, and it does seem as if the foot would hurt, but I probably would be willing to find out!

Post a pic when you get it!

All Right then, I shall!
Yeah. I was up late designing one. Traced my foot to get the scale right too.

Probably in a few weeks!
Hippichick, I agree that it's a sexy spot! That's why I want something very feminine.

(I'm thinking of sticking in stylisly the scorpio glyph.. just so you barely know what it is, like a vine..)

Lovely.. exactly! We got our last tattoos together as well. It is a sort of renewal.. the mark the years with a bonding memory.
Years ago, my hubby got our daughter's name in mandarin tattooed on his bicep, and this time, he will complete it with my boy's, on the other one. I love that.
I told him if he stuck my name on him, it was sure death of our marriage, and I wouldn't 'let him' do it, but kids are forever.
He might be settling on a dragon eventually, that I designed for him a while back.. though it will have to be re-designed... and considering I am year of the dragon, it's symbolic enough for me to appreciate but agree to have on his body...

Yep, I'ma gonna do it! So excited! It's time.

Well, here's a very scientific answer to your question:

My best friend got a tattoo on her foot, and she has built on it several times since then. Annnnnnnnnnd, she's a Scorpio, too, so I'm scientifically certain that this would be a good choice for you!

(Next time I talk to her, I'll ask her about it.)

be sure to wear shoes that dont rub on the area of the tat when its healing.. it might spoil the finished article.

My next tat will be The Star from the dragon tarot, and will be on the left hand side of the bottom of my back. I have a black ankh with stars on my upper right back.

That will be beautiful Pixie!!!!

They say the foot and small of the back are supposed to be the most sensitive- followed the under arm area and in between the shoulder blades.

I have one on the inside of my right ankle - Apache warshield with feathers and a Thunderbird in the middle. The feathers hurt pretty bad as they are pretty low down on my ankle.

I got a new one on the small of my back...and I mean SMALL of my back - it is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter (it's a Mandala with a solid horse head in the middle with the brand of Leo / Sag on it's neck) then there are 5 long feathers coming off the bottom and one on each side.

It took almost 5 hours and is pretty darn detailed (lots of shading) and hurt so bad I wanted to cry. Mostly it was the needle across my boney spine and down near by butt crack LMAO....

I don't think I could do my foot though- my feet are very sensitive AND ticklish hee hee....

I'd probably pee myself.

Take a pic when you get it..I still need to do one of my back.

haha... yeah I was talking to my hubby today about not having a decent pic of my tattoo.. so If I get one up, you'll have to as well, deal?

I went today to book the appointment, and the guy really didn't want me to do a flower chain, said they don't guarantee the tat lasting, due to wear and tear, etc... which is logical.. and the good thing about getting it in the summer is that I live in sandals ( except for work) But I can get different shoes if need be.( Oh No!! An excuse to buy shoes?!)
Despite his reluctance ( he is not a tattoo artist, he I think did the piercings/bookings there, though he knew a fair bit)
I am going to design it and talk to an artist about logistics.

I want it!

I walked in with my sweet, innocent little angelic looking five year old daughter, and said "Hi.. she's here for her first tattoo."
For some reason he knew I was joking.

Ongoing design-workshop in my head.

Sounds painful.

Considering getting one, but as I’m so fickle I better make sure I actually want it.

make sure you have had the same design in mind for at least a year if your fickle...

its how i approach tattoo designs, and Im still very happy with my ankh and stars arrangement on my back.

heres the pic of the particular card I am after..

Im loving the idea of this one, as I have a bit of a thing for dragons(ok understatement), its the tarot card associated with Aquarius, and is the one after the Tower... cos when it all goes crashy boom whoops, hope is the best medicine.

Now if i can get a quote and raise the money..

oooooooooh, how exciting!

I am banging around a few more ideas, rather than little flowers ( which would be lovely) I like the idea of a peacock feather, curving al around my foot... it would be larger, therefore less likely to 'fade' and turn into little blobs, yet still airy , feminine and beautiful.. plus, I have a thing for them..My fave earrings are peacock feathers, I just painted some on a painting for my entry way ( a woman-shape, curving, with peacock feathers at the base) and the other day I drew one... so maybe I'll just go ahead an think about it some more.

I like your design!!! And it's important definately for the tattoo to have meaning beyond just a beautiful image too!

well yea, tattoos are more for life, than even pets. Not just for xmas.

A tattoo without meaning has no soul to it, imho.

Not something i take lightly, and piddly little tiny tats arent for me. Needs to be bigger than 3 inches to qualify as a real tattoo in my head..

I see the pain of tattooing as some kind of of shamanic trial. Earning your symbols, so to speak, and its a very serious business.

Hence the no wussing out and going for tiny tats!

I hope this isn't too big, they tend to be, plus you lose quality with scanning.. but this is my preliminary study.

whatddya think?

Looking at it so big like that, it isn't very symmetrical.....
Okay, I'll revamp.. this is important stuff!
