Hi guys

I have just signed up on e-bay! Whooaa...
Now I can start bidding and buying once I get money ( pay-day is soon).

One question though-how do I know that the item, I want to buy, is of good quality, and hasn't got a bad history to it?
Do I trust my instincts, or what?

Yang, I never had a problem with items in the past, they're usually of good quality. the only problem I ever ran into is recieving good feedback for giving money. when you buy from someone, they give feedback for how you paid, Ex: "recieved payment quickly, would buy from this person again!!!" After you recieve what you want, you leave them feedback also: 'recieved item, in good shape, loved it!!!"

sometimes they won't leave you feedback and this could Affect you if your selling something. I bought a U2 patch from this girl once, it was for the zooropa tour, I emailed her personally, you see she was selling it for 8 dollars, I told her I would give her 12 dollars right there, if she sold it to me. she never responded to my email and she didnt sell it either. Well later I saw it on bid again..so I waited until about 30 seconds....

THIS IS THE SECRET TO EBAY FOLKS, IF YOUR BIDDING ON SOMETHING, WAIT UNTIL 30 SECONDS...THEN BID A OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT! YOU SEE THERE ARE PROGRAMS OUT THERE THAT PEOPLE USE, THIS PROGRAM WILL BID FOR THEM AT THE LAST SECOND TO OUTBID YOU. LETS SAY THE BIDDINGS UP TO 11 DOLLARS AND YOU AND THIS GUY ARE GOING AT IT, AT 10 SECONDS YOU THNK YOU GOT HIM BEAT BECAUSE YOU PUT IN 12 DOLLARS, THEN IT SAYS YOU GOT OUTBIDDED. TIS BECAUSE HE HAS A COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT CAN OUT BID YOU. WELL THE KEY TO THIS IS, IF THE BID IS 11 DOLLARS, WITH 30 OR LESS SECONDS, DEPENDING ON HOW FAST YOU AND YOUR COMPUTER ARE, YOU BID LIKE 50 DOLLARS. WHEN YOU BID 50 DOLLARS ,THE BID DOESNT JUMP TO 50 DOLLARS, IT WILL TELL THE OTHER BIDDER YOU BID LIKE 11.50, ONLY YOU AND EBAY KNOW THAT YOU BID 50 DOLLARS, THE PERSON WILL NEVER ASSUME YOU DID THIS AND WILL KEEP PUTTING IN DOLLAR AMOUNTS OR 12, 13, 14 AND HE WILL STILL BE GETTING OUTBIDDED, WHEN IT SAYS YOU HAVE WON, IT WILL STILL BE AT 11 DOLLARS, BECAUSE THE PERSON NEVER BID HIGHER THAN YOU! DO YOU GET IT?

I was in a war on bidding with two British gents, we were fighting over a celtic football pewter flask. the both outbid me and I just waited, this made them think I gave up, but I was in the back ground...so they bidded 50 cents and such, on and on and on... Then with 20 seconds left, I put in like 30 dollars, they never had enough time to bid, nor did they know it was so high, and I won the flask!! lol.

well back to feedback, I wait for this U2 patch, I bid with 20 seconds, though I was the only bidder, I won it for 11 dollars, a dollar less than what I offered her four days prior. I paid her the money and thanked her sarcastically. well something told me to check out her comments from others. Turned out this girl was hated by all of ebay. she hadnt sent people products and they were just screaming at her left and right. I really got worried and started to kick myself in the head, thinking, "what have I done, I laughed at her for not selling it to me for 12 dollars, since I got it for 11, and now she is laughing at me. I will never get my patch! Well I guess ole Jupiter was watching over me, I recieved the patch in mint condition and it turned out she had the same last name as me, I think this went in my favor, perhaps she thought we were related.

Well I thought I would be nice and leave her a great big 4 star comment, "recieved product quickly and fast, love it!!! thank you!!!" I was really happy to not have been a victim of her past aggressions, if the even existed. later that day I get this ebay message from someone she had sold to, they sent me a message saying, "oh you left the wicked witch of the east a great comment, but watch and see, you'll never get a comment back from her saying she recieved your money!" I was frightened again, even though her not sending a comment wouldnt affect my score, it still bothered me, so I went and looked at all the people she sold to..like thousands of people, and she never, NEVER, NEVER ever left anyone a good comment. she didnt leave them one comment. she sold products, but never thanked one person for their money...the strangest woman I have ever met..lol.

SO Yang, that would be the best advice I could give you ,when bidding for somethign you really want, with 20seconds let BID BIG!!!!! make sure you have it all ready so count from 30secsback, and at 20 hit bid! lol. you should win that product..lol. it always works for this SAGI and we hate to lose.

second advice: alway look at the persons ratings and there comments from others, this should tell you if its a good product indeed.

I have never got shafted on ebay, but three times it happened on Amazon.com, and they had to reimburse me. GOOD luck, its a lot of fun and very addicting. be careful!

I have been using E-Bay for over 5 years as a buyer and seller and never had a bad experience. You just need to pay attention to feedback.

As for bidding, Thorshammer is absolutely right.

Well, unless two of you have the same idea? One of you bids $40 and one of you bids $50 to get the $10 item and hey, the $50 bid wins it at $40.50! hehe Maybe I should start selling more on Ebay.... hehehe
I only get my books, and I have relatives do it who know what they are doing, since I don't. I have plans to set up a separate bank account to do my Ebay business soon though, so keep the advice coming!!
