while of course i am age-less, inoticed a lack of enjoyment in reading many newer topic posts. Do i not know how to have fun? i think i need more serious (!) discussions- esp in the astrology forum. Since it seems most all are having smiles and fun, is it just me? 2/21/49 4:05pm CST chicago usa A founder of the Grandma gang seeking knowledge enlightenment a good mate-also want more answers about Pluto progression and transit, etc. Am i too "old", boring, or 'out of it' because i am thirsty for more depth in topics?IP: Logged |

I agree completely, Tuxedo. This site is all about stupid trivial crap anymore. Very little intelligent conversation around here, and even less that actually furthers the art/science of astrology. I've posted "fun and pointless" topics here, but I keep them in the Free-For-All area, where fun and pointless topics belong. I posted a thread regarding "Pisces Feminists and current Pisces-Uranus and Aquarius-Neptune Transits", and instead of getting ANY bit of astrological insight of these transits in response, I just get a bunch of political talk from these people... There are so many spam threads on the Astrology page, its sad. IP: Logged |

You could get into the Free Astrology Course. You might have a better time with serious astrological discussion there.IP: Logged |

naaah, you're not old at all. I often feel like a stranger in a strange land myself. Have you read Jeff Green's book on Pluto? I just survived a very looooong Pluto transit on the 7th/8th cusp conjunct my Sun, as well as Pluto square Pluto. The book really helped bring a clearer perspective of what was happening on deeper levels. http://www.amazon.com/Pluto-Llewellyn-Modern-Astrology-Library/dp/0875422969 IP: Logged |

Scorpionic, hey, I tried. *pouts indignantly* btw...was wondering why you don't wander into Universal Codes, where the topics are more indepth. Too much religion/spirituality? Just curious. ...although now might not be the greatest time, if you're trying to avoid politics. It can't be escaped, it seems. IP: Logged |

tux ~Can I join your Grandma Gang as an auxiliary member (not a Grandma yet)?? I feel the same as you. The way I thought I would solve this problem is to help raise the bar a little and post intriguing quotes from top astro books/authors and try to start discussions ("Transiting Midpoints"), but it seems the younger crowd sometimes wants to just guess signs from photos, and then there's my pet peeve, the plaintive wail "can you look at our charts are we soulmates"..... I like to play along too -- I posted a lot of pics in the "Images - How I See You Guys" thread, and I will probably bite on a "your favorite Aqua or Libra" topic, but sometimes I have to go elsewhere when I get Lala-Bored. Try Kim Falconer's forum, or Bob Marks' for some more serious study. Zala IP: Logged |

Zala, you crack me up I have to say that I am guilty of some rather shallow whiny threads as well (in fact, last week I was seriously considering changing my screen name to Drama Queen )and I don't have enough knowledge just yet to keep up with our much respected astrological guru's conversations . and, you are very wise but, of course, I am not surprised I would be very interested to learn more about Pluto transits. It conjuncts my Sun now and will be in my 5th House for the next 5 years.

I would definitely say if the discussions aren't "meaty" enough -- post something that is. I personally have felt the fluff was a welcome reprieve from the angry and abusive posts with all the knock-down, drag-out fights of late. IP: Logged |

yeah, we're ok, SW. The *pouts indignantly* was teasingly in reference to: quote: I posted a thread regarding "Pisces Feminists and current Pisces-Uranus and Aquarius-Neptune Transits", and instead of getting ANY bit of astrological insight of these transits in response, I just get a bunch of political talk from these people...
While I wouldn't have presumed enough knowledge of current Pisces-Uranus/Aquarius-Neptune transits to comment on them, I tried to explore the topic with what meager means I do have. I earnestly cared about the topic to try, so I pouted my most regal Leo Moon pout, abhorred by such indignity. (I am joking) The other bit about posting in UC was sincere curiousity...and if you heard my voice it would have been gentle. If I feel any latent hostility arise, I promise to unleash it in fairer, more direct ways. IP: Logged |

Tux, honey, you are 3 years younger than I am so you are a youngster to me. I have 5 grand kids. I think astrology is interesting but don't know a great deal about it. I do pick up bits and pieces here and there though. Mostly I just hang out here and usually get into trouble without intending to. hee hee IP: Logged |

tux ~Post a topic over in Astro on your Pluto transits (or whatever you wish to discuss about our demoted dwarf) and I'll pile on!! I'm "enjoying" tPluto sq nMoon, opp nJupiter and sextile nSun, plus trine nPluto. I've got lots of good links and quotes We'll raise the tone a little, provide a diversion, perhaps tickle some intellectual discussion out of some very knowledgeable people..... I doubt we'll get very many peoples' attention, but everyone is at their own stage of development and we all need to let our hair down and play too. Sometimes elbowing your way to the bar is the only way to slake your thirst Z IP: Logged |

hey Tuxedo there were times when I felt the same and all these fun, shallow, pointless and soulmate threads were driving me up the wall...what really surprised me is the fact that such threads usually got so many replies and lots of people seemed to find them interesting! That made me feel too old...too serious...too reserved..like I couldn't enjoy the joke everybody else enjoyed... I quietly decided to leave LL..I tried to do this more than once. I found other astroforums with many indepth and interesting discussions there but still I felt there was something missing there and I kept coming back.... and you know what? I finally understood why LL is so special to me...IT FEELS LIKE HOME HERE. People share their hopes and dreams, they post about their deepest fears and most joyful moments in their lives, they come here to be encouraged and get love and guidance, they often fight like hell and yet keep coming back, it does feel like a family: sometimes you hate them, sometimes you love them but you just cannot leave them! Scorpionic and others - I think is waxes and wanes as far as the intellectual conversation. Time and again we've have people lament over the content of the posts, with people requesting others to not just ask about what the future will bring, to set up their paragraphs properly verses one 10 inch paragraph or to refrain from using slang shorthand. We've had serious discussions started about Evolution, God and how astrology relates only to have someone pop in call all Scientists idiots and basically crap on the discipline in general. LOL... I have actually been told I'm a close minded, automaton because I did graduate with a BA in Chemistry and Biology. I have also seen people come here to just tear up the principle of Astrology and then there have been people that have a superficial knowledge try to tell others how horrible they are based on the fact that they have one aspect. It evens out and soon people start to get back into the discipline instead of the fortune telling aspect. I love speaking about Science or what I do, but I get tired of starting a conversation only to be told to shut up because I am bragging about my backround. That is just my two cents. I miss some of the conversations of old that we used to have a couple of years ago, but I am optimistic that it will return. ~Pidaua IP: Logged |
