My family and I are moving overseas and we won't have access to the internet for 2 - 3 months *from this coming Monday* it seems. I'll miss this site and many of the wonderful people who post simply amazing things here. Thanks for keeping this one of the most positive places on the web to call home and I hope to be back soon. *added in an edit* ------------------ "You are not here to try to get the world to be just as you want it to be. Thanks everyone, it's nice to be back. Things are going very well, thanks, pixelpixie. Just love it here! Everyone is so friendly and the island is just beautiful. How are you and your little pixies? How far along are you now? Hi, pidaua. I think I updated my profile already but we're in Japan! Okinawa, actually. It's wonderful. The move was a bit difficult but what with it being our first PCS overseas and with a baby, we didn't expect it to be cake. Everything works out in the end, right? Got a car fairly quickly but took a bit longer on the apartment. It was worth the wait, though. A few things were broken or missing from the moving shipments and we're in the process of dealing with that. Just make sure your fragile things are packed with extreme caution. But Germany? Wow!!! That is so exciting! I've only heard great things about it and I'm sure you'll have the time of your life. We'd like to go to Europe eventually, too. ------------------ "You are not here to try to get the world to be just as you want it to be. Tink! How are you? And the little one? I'm glad to see you, too! It just wouldn't be LL without you around. I sent you an email when we get our net access set up here, too ... at least, I think I did. Did you get it? I don't really know how much time I'll have to get online for a while because our schedules have just gotten hectic but I really hope to stay in touch with you if you don't mind. ------------------ "You are not here to try to get the world to be just as you want it to be. Hi Eleanore,WOW.. Japan, that has to be incredible. SO much history!!! I'm sure it will be a memorable experience. How is the baby? Sadly, I know all to well about movers and breaking things. For a few months I worked on Post for the transportation office scheduling the moves. I couldn't believe the number of claims reported for shattered items. Blech!!! I am having my Subaru shipped to Germany (we'll sell it there because it retains more of it's value there than here) and half my stuff will go between our place and storage. I was fortunate in that Bear left before me, got our house in Inglehiem and already bought an economy car. I've seen pics of the place(which I need to put on LL MSN) and it's beautiful. It has two balconies and... HEATED floors LOL.. Bear's already lived in Italy (3 years) and Korea (2 years) but this will be my first time in Europe. We are already planning our day trips and weekend road trips to Venice and elsewhere. I can't express how happy I am to have this experience... especially with Bear and not to have to say goodbye again for another 5 plus months LOL.... Glad things are going well!!! You're hubby is Airforce isn't he? Hugs!!! IP: Logged |

Tink No, things won't be the same exactly but I'll always be around one way or another. You know how to reach me. Glad to hear you and yours are doing well. Update me anytime! Very curious about you and the little guy, it just can't be helped. ******
pidaua Yes, Japan is incredible! We're very happy to be here and will strive to learn as much as we can. We feel very blessed. And, yes, hubby is Air Force. The baby is happy here. We live just minutes from the beach and he is thrilled about that. He's just over 18 months now but we refuse to not call him a baby until he's at least 2. He's our first. I think we should have that right. Good to know you're forearmed with all that knowledge about moving. It is surprising how many things get damaged or lost but I suppose there's not much to be done about it. Very fortunate you can ship your car to sell! Wow, so you're all set with a place and a car. I think Bear deserves a mighty bear hug just for that. We'd like to spend some time in Italy, too. But Germany seems so exotic, to me at least, lol. Totally different culture. I'm sure you'll have a complete blast exploring Europe! *Hugs right back!!!*
