Anyone ever have it done? I'm getting 2 done tomorrow
Thank god the dentist is only 1 block away from my house because I am lazy. Do you think I can pick an anastesia that knocks me out completely like an oral surgeon would do for a wisdom tooth?

ouch. good luck with that. my mom and brother had one of those. dont worry. theyre not the worst things ever. i doubt youd need to be knocked out. but i can understand why youd want to be. seems, like it would make it easier. i hope everything works out ok for you IP: Logged |

Yea i had it done...ooowiee...but if they give u good anesthetic it shouldnt hurt while they do it and after nothing a tylenol or two couldnt fix. But i hate the sounds of drilling when they do it, thats what gets to me cuz i imagine what they are doing lol. Good luck Sweet Stars hope it will be great and doesnt hurt IP: Logged |

Payment options are the best. I didn't find it hurt that bad.. only afterwards a bit more than a regular filling...They won't knock you out, in fact, it would cost thousands, most likely, if they did that... and it's more invasive to recover from..... Root Canals just take a bit longer than a regular procedure, get into the mind set.. a little mental vacation. You'll be good.

Mine is very bad LOL. Years worth of pain. I've been coughing because the infection has spread to my neck. It's swollen.
Dangerous if it goes into the heart. I'm gonna tell my dentist to please be gentle. I hate needles but at the same time I can't wait for them to rip that crap out!

Awwwww, sorry to hear that SweetStars..I haven't had any done to be honest, but I've peformed many and gotten a lot of feedback from patients. The actual process should not be painful.. it's much less traumatic than a wisdom tooth extraction, for example. As long as the anesthesia is given properly you shouldn't feel any pain. The reason root canals are notorious for being painful is that sometimes, even after the anesthetic is applied, the liquid does not reach all of the nerves that are inside the actual tooth root. In this case, you might feel some pain when your dentist starts working, but if you inform him he will give you an injection into the actual root, which will hurt for about a split second, but after that you should feel better. (its not as bad as that must have sounded) Best of luck with that, hope it goes well! IP: Logged |

I don't want to feel any pain. How much is the limit of anastesia that I can get in this case? I want her to make it real numb.

In general the most someone can take is about five shots, but you shouldn't need more than one or two. More important than the amount is the location. Having anesthesia all around the tooth will help.IP: Logged |

I'm gonna tell her to make sure the root is real numb because I am weak when it comes to pain. I'm 24 but I can be a big baby.Needles are my worst enemy. Imagine an epidoral? I'll faint just at the sight of the needle.

Everything went well. The dentist was very gentle and her assistant held my hand the whole time. I had to let them know to give me more anastesia though cuz it wore off after a while LOL.

Aw, good job! See? You weren't as bad as you thought you'd be. I can't stand tooth pain, it's awful, isn't it? It's in your head and you can't get away from it. Good thing those teeth won't bother you again.IP: Logged |
