Everyone praises those virtues which they seem to possess in themselves
and finds a way to criticize those which they clearly do not possess;
cool hearts sing the praises of independence
and gushing hearts praise affection before all things;
the silent praise silence,
the expressive praise expression;
the meek praise meekness,
the bold praise boldness;
the sensitive praise sensitivity,
the rugged praise ruggedness;
the reflective praise reflection,
the active praise action;
the original praise originality,
the consistent praise consistency;
the selfless praise self-sacrifice,
individualists praise self-possession;... and so on.

Meanwhile, the complete person praises all of these,
and wisely observes the appointed season for each.

And,
while those who lack the power to reason,
and must find a way to truth through intuition,
will tell you that reason is a dead end,
and only intuition lights the highest paths, -
those lacking intuitive power,
but well-armed with reason,
will reason their way to the heights,
and remark only upon the pitfalls of following intuition.
Each seems to find fault in the method,
and rarely acknowledges it in themselves.

Again,
to the wise,
all things have their uses,
and nothing is without merit.

That was well put, HSC.

I'm going to copy it, if that's okay with you, and share it with a few people.

It seem a way of expressing self love, doesn't it?

And don't we sometime also admire that which eludes us.

The quite, admireing the bosterous.
my Moonie-Ram thought for the the day.

I love your words, Steve.

Not only have I copied it, I've stuck it to my wall and make a point to read it whenever I pass that particular piece of wall. I like it when you have an excellent point HSC (which is usually). Reinforces my belief that there's most definately something more than special about you.

Very nice HSC

This logic extends not just through personality traits, but all sorts of categories. People like people like themselves.

"Meanwhile, the complete person praises all of these,"....but can a person really be complete?

Doesn't the fact that we have a corporeal body, indicative of a splintering from god-consciousness, a symptom of incompleteness?

BlueRoamer -

Thanks.

I agree,
the implications of this insight could fill a library.

The sociological realm you mention is,
I would imagine, particularly fertile territory.
We could speak of echo chambers.

And, yes, the "complete person" is, most likely, an archetypal ideal, and not an achievable reality for any individual. We are all forced to make choices and trade-offs, to stick by our strengths, and create a workable life around them. I think, though, that it is possible not to let this cloud our objectivity. That is, we may never, like the complete person, be in a position to observe the proper season for each thing, but, we may yet be able to praise all things, and cease to find fault in those strengths we do not possess.
