I am fed up with Amercan society....(and government)

We can send innocent young people to a land that we have no business in to be killed---VIOLENTLY--we can send money and people to desert countries to fight a battle that is not our own, we can spend billions on "space" projects---"gee,,,lets find out what is REALLY on the dark side of the moon..." we can tax the hell out of our "middle class" citizens and feed the poor, cater to the rich....

Most people you encounter on a daily basis are self-centered and cruel..."just let me shove my shopping cart into yours....I WAS here first...." Road rage, disrespectful utterings from disrespectful men..throw trash all over the highways, burn mulch piles so as Gaia herself is crying......

And forget it if you are a single parent who is doing her/his part in this fu#$ing "society!" Forget it that we pay taxes, forget it that we maintain employment, forget it that we are trying to raise kids in this messed up world all ALONE!!!! And don't even try to give us or our kids a break for trying to do what is "right!!!" Yes, go ahead and send/spend your resources on things that will never change while the future of America is wasting away.......

Geee......Think I will go find myself a nice, quiet place on The Dark Side of the Moon........

Where is the LOVE people?????????

Hi Terri ~

For me the key to the points in your rant boils down to one thing: respect. There ain’t much being taught here anymore. I don’t know if that’s true in the rest of the world, but I feel our society has gone downhill. In part I blame my own generation – we blew apart the dogma and loosened up all the rules from the 50’s, but we didn’t really work to make sure a better set of rules got put firmly into position to replace what we obliterated. We left it for everyone to find their own way. And it seems to me many aren’t finding their way, and have no one to guide them. Extended families are rare. The concept that it takes a village to raise a child is a revelation…..

In a way I think this is a generational Coming of Age, not just for Baby Boomers, Gen X, Y or Z – but for this millenium. The pendulum always swings. Right now it’s swung way over towards disrespect and lack of consideration for human, animal, or Mother Earth. There’s a selfishness loose upon our world that was held in check before by stricter societal rules.

I don’t know what the answer is, or what the right path to tread is, but am sending you a cyber hug and I feel your angst.

{{{ love }} Zala

PS: In the way we of Piscean attributes sense it, I feel a groundswell of protest coming from the collective unconscious -- it's not here yet, but the first faint bells were rung back in November when elections happened.....

True but consider the individual. I think the current generation has been vigorously blindsided by the message of freedom. Do what ever the heck you feel like without regards. Now... outright control implimentation is just a recipie for disaster. Everyone is just too used to the idea of total freedom to either be a saint or a menace and wouldn't appreciate it if that freedom was taken away from them completely.

I say slowly input the influence. However, do we have the liberty to be THAT patient?

Whoa, Big Fella!!! In no way was I suggesting that any tighter “controls” be implemented on our society. I was suggesting that “controls” were either dismantled or ignored (or both) by generations previous to yours, and the whole thing has snowballed with the blind leading the blind. In a manner of speaking, I believe in Anarchy – total freedom, yet total personal responsibility. It seems that our society has grasped the former, but denied the latter.

But people need examples, role models. Where/who are the role models of today's generations?? Can we afford as a society NOT to teach better respect and consideration for all living things, including the Earth that sustains us?? Can we survive if we do not??

Lol! Scaley person. *Robs that one for future use.*

Well again, actually I all for the idea of moderate control . Its always works until someone gets the itchy extreminist finger and turns a perfectly good system into a forced "dick"tatorship. But... control is needed, I agree. Without the necessary foundational bulding blocks of virtue, you can't expect a child to go very far.
