Yeah we are ignorant, and foolish as well, but you are just biasing an opinion on what you read or see in the media, which is not true at all. India and Brazil have the biggest gap between the have's and have not's I agree, but everything is not what is being projected. The hype is the creation of those selfish propagators who is phishing out most of the money that "the privileged, fortunate, rich" westerner is giving in the name of charity. All those goes in the name of politics, conversion and other nuisance. It is a number game and not a single penny is spend towards the up-liftment of the society!
Anyways, for abstaining from further flaming this board, I would kepe my mouth shut. Unless people see things real time, I know they will never understand, and there it stays.

GeminiNymph, pointing out the flaws of any country to its people will create some negativity. it is natural, and not a trait belonging exclusively to Indians.yes India is struggling with poverty, corruption, overpopulation, and a host of other problems that you may not even know about/have not mentioned. Given the complicated nature of the problems, progress is necessarily slow. Like most of the work done here is on a local scale, so is it in India. the most effective work is being done at the grassroot level. Every country has its problems, some more, some less. And as Moon666child pointed out, you can never know the real situation unless you actually go and live in that country for a while. ILWL IP: Logged |

gemini nymph, i'm not saying that the west has not done anything. the west has done a substantial amount of contribution. there was a time in the late 1970s when the entire india fed on the wheat donated by US.we are very much grateful for all this help. what i'm saying is that if killerweed has problems maybe he should do 'more himself' to help the asians. please read my posts again and u will know that at no time i have critized the west except where i say that the europeans 'were' parasites. Many Americans do get involved with organizations that help out the poor and give money. Most of this happen on a local scale so it's not surprising that someone in another hemisphere wouldn't be that aware of that.::::
but what makes you think the same doesn't happen here ?
and why compare india with america ?
india has just arrived on the scene while america is world leader !

i know , we need a lot to do regarding our society .
but the way this thread got shaped cos of the tone of KW'S post . its not that we dont accept our faults ,
i think i do .
i think moon is a far better person than i can ever be .
