Perhaps, but, according to that logic, then, the same may be said of physical assaults. As the Native Americans say, "Pain is an opinion." If an individual is held responsible for his reactions to verbal assaults, why not physical ones? Is it perhaps because we acknowledge and respect the vulnerablity of the flesh, but not the personality; the body, but not the psyche? IP: Logged |
