@ BM's yo-yo cartoon

Happy Juggling Day everyone!! Make sure to make like the guy in the picture below in honor of the day:

Or, like the girl below (Disclaimer: No animals were hurt in the making of this picture) - on second thought, perhaps stay away from juggling live things:

Kitchen klutzes, this is the day we celebrate you!!!

This article is about the nursery rhyme. For the hip hop song by 3rd Bass, see Pop Goes the Weasel (3rd Bass song).

"Pop Goes the Weasel" is a nursery rhyme which dates back to 17th century England, and was spread across the Empire by colonists. The tune or melody is as follows, or a variation:

"Pop Goes the Weasel" melody

There are many different versions of the lyrics to this song. Most share the basic verse:

Half a pound of tuppenny rice,
Half a pound of treacle.
That’s the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

Or the alternative verses:

Half a pound of tuppenny rice,
Half a pound of treacle.
Mix it up and make it nice,
Pop! goes the weasel.

Or the alternative verses:

Up and down the city road, (also seen as 'Up and down the King's Highway')
In and out the Eagle,
That’s the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

For you may try to sew and sew,
But you'll never make anything regal,
That’s the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

In both England and the English colonies, extra verses have been added, some humorous and others serious:

All around the mulberry bush,
The monkey chased the weasel,
The dog, he thought 'twas all in fun.
Pop! goes the weasel.

or...

Round and Round the mulberry bush,
The monkey chased the weasel.
The monkey stopped to tie his shoe.
Pop! goes the weasel.

or...

All around the mulberry bush,
The monkey chased the weasel
The weasel thought it was all in jest
Til the monkey slew the weasel

(with other versions of the above where reason for murder is given (such as the weasel biting the monkey), or later verses describing how the deed was done, typically through strangulation)

or...

Ev'ry night, when I come home,
The monkey's on the table.
I take a stick and knock him off,
Pop! goes the weasel.

or...

Round and round the cobblers bench,
The monkey chased the weasel,
The monkey stopped to pull up his socks.
Pop! goes the weasel.

or...

Round and round the cobblers bench,
The monkey chased the weasel,
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun.
Pop! goes the weasel.

A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle.
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.

Pop goes the, pop goes the windin of the weasel
I see the empty pocket needs a refill
I got a squad with a list of complainers
I should have started RAP:
Rappers Against Phony Entertainers
So we can make it known that we won't get swayed
It's ninety-one son, so somethin's gotta change
Gettin paid to peddle sneakers and soda pop (pop pop pop)
Pop goes the weasel as drawers drop (drop drop dop)
Why not take your top ten pop hit
fix the music and make senseless ryhmes fit
I guess it's the fact that you can't be artistic
Intricate raps, becomin so simplistic
I gotta strong mind it doesn't have to be spoon-fed
And I can read what doesn't have to be read
So some stay illiterate and feeble, legally licked
You go the ways of the weasel (the weasel)
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop goes the weasel, cause the weasel goes pop
Hip-hop, got turned into hit pop
the second a record was number one on the pop charts
For those that get on heart that gotta in the ghetto
Let no one forget about the hard part
Now in ninety-one we got a new brand, a new band
lookin like the same old Klan
Same old thieves that skeez so we gotta make sure
that real rap has got to endure
Why score all my points in one period
Appearin in complex structure like a pyramid
The paper for the media presence
Ya learn lesson from the face of false legend
Stop vexin on the skills, ya ain't originate
The thin ice you skate upon will break and set ya straight
Ate up on the plate, now who's diesel
Not the weasel, not the weasel, pop goes the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop goes the weasel, cause the weasel goes Pop
Ya stole somebody's record then ya looped it, ya looped it
Ya boosted the record then ya looped it, ya looped it
Aiyyo, I came from Cali, and they hooped it, they hooped it
But now you're getting sued kinda stoopid
Boosted tracks get slaps, ya got no haps
to reach all four corners of the map
For kids in Kansas.. to those who speak Spanish
Doin crazy damage so the wack gets banished
Can't manage the truth until you buy a way
Ya ain't quick so ya switch off the exit from my highway
to rest but a crook, had to take a second look
Ever heard of a chef who can't cook?
But the Minister Prime can lay laws
Hey yo, Pete Nice, rip the mic and go for yours
Goes for mine, I goes for mine
Find the Prime won't eat the green eggs and swine
On line like the Serch, in the hoody with the woody
Get a disc or tape, at Sam Goody
Why'd ya run through the doors some left open?
Ropin off the scenes of the crime smokin
I got pub and I'ma nut like a SCUD see
Blowin up, like I'm throwin up a beef patty
Sell-outs run a bout like the measles
No cures, cause pop goes the weasels
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop goes the weasel, cause the weasel goes Pop
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop Pop goes the weasel, the weasel
Pop goes the weasel, cause the weasel goes Pop

And here's some inspiration for tomorrow:

SMILE FOR YOU

Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick, and get the world infected!

Keep the smile going by sending this on to a friend.
Everyone needs a smile!!!

Awww.. how cute; gorillas smile too!!

I've never known a bulldog to smile like this:

June 20 is . . . . Ice Cream Soda Day
Yeah!

In honor of this, I'm teaching my 3 and 5 year old how to make [homeade] ice cream, then we'll add the soda pop and enjoy

For any that are interested in this adventure here is a fun, inexpensive, easy project that tastes Sooooo good:

HOME MADE COFFEE CAN ICE CREAM RECIPE

Things you will need:
1 lb. Coffee Can
3 lb. Coffee Can
1/2 cup Rock salt
and Lots of ICE
1 pint Half and Half
1 1/2 tsps. Vanilla
1/3 cup + 2 tblsps. Sugar

For flavored ice cream, choose one:

3 tblsps. of your favorite flavor of instant pudding
1/3 cup of fruit
3 of your favorite cookies, crushed into pea-size pieces
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts
3 tblsps. of instant coffee

Mix these ingredients together:
1 pint Half and Half
1 1/2 tsps. Vanilla
1/3 cup + 2 tblsps. Sugar
plus any flavorings you've chosen
and pour into the one pound coffee can.

Place the lid on securely and set inside the three pound can.

Add ice, and alternate layers of ice and salt outside the small can and inside the large can. When totally full, secure the lid on the large can.
Hint: You may wish to add duct tape for good measure.

Now here comes the fun part! Just roll the can back and forth for about 15 minutes on the floor. [Can be done while sitting on the couch with your feet doing the work] or with small children passing it back n' forth to one another.

Open the cans and check the ice cream. If it is not starting to freeze, replace lids and roll 5 minutes more. The ice cream should be frozen to the sides and bottom of the can. If not thick enough, place in freezer and check every 10 minutes or so.

Serve and enjoy!

Yield: 2 cups ice cream

Sendin' love your way,
"your friend in spirit"

FUN FACTS ABOUT PINK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pink denotes soft gentle vulnerability that beckons for masculine protection. It elicits subtle emotions such as unselfish love, kindness and consideration. It is emotionally soothing, calming, warming, cheerful and nurturing. This color lessens the feelings of irritation and aggression by surrounding us with a sense of love. A study showed that Pink has a subduing effect on those suffering emotional distress. People who enjoy wearing Pink are affectionate, sympathetic and understanding. They often need the support of others and can often times be child-like. Pink takes on traits of red and white, therefore it is still a sensuous color while being quite innocent. This combination makes Pink naively sexual, therefore it is self-explanatory as to why so many men polled preferred their dream girl in soft cherub pink intimates.

Pink evokes thoughts of cotton candy, bubble gum and silk hair bows, and strawberry milkshakes. Pink is the sweet side of red, a feminine delicate color, it represents “sugar and spice and everything nice”.

While red stirs up passion and action, studies have shown that large amounts of Pink can create a sense of physical fragility. Perhaps there is a tie-in between this physical reaction and the color association with the so-called gentler sex.

Using Pink : Both red and Pink denote love but while red is hot passion, pink is romantic and charming. Use Pink to convey playfulness. Think of Florida hot Pink flamingoes. A more pastel shade of Pink can denote tenderness. Multiple shades of Pink and light purple or other pastels used together maintain the soft, delicate, and playful nature of Pink . Add strength with darker stronger shades of purple and burgundy. All shades of Pink get sophisticated when combined with black or gray. Imagine a lacey black negligee with a soft Pink satin ribbon woven throughout. Imagine a sky blue lace trim on a Pink gossamer robe. Picture yourself sweeping down the staircase in an attention getting bright Pink Short & Sweet, trimmed with sharp verdant green as a crisp welcome to Springtime. Lounge in sophistication in a platinum grey silk peignoir with Pink lace accents.

Pink Phrases

In the pink - healthy
Tickled pink - happy, content
Pink collar - any office worker that holds a position that an old boys network would consider “traditionally female”
Pink cut - the method of cutting fabric in a notched or zig zagged manner.

Pink Thoughts

Pink is a delicate pastel associated with soft love and caressing romance.

Pink has been known to make the observer desire to handle things more gently. It is as if an aggressive personality becomes gracious and more tenderly romantic.

In sports settings, pink may make athletes initially less aggressive, but after some exposure, the agressive properties of red kick in.

Pink lingerie will unleash the romantic side of your sweetheart. When surprising someone with a gift, pink lingerie is a guaranteed winner.

Pink Words These words are synonymous with pink or represent various shades of the color pink. Salmon, coral, hot pink, fuchsia, blush, flesh, flush, fuchsia, rose.
