I like that, almost like All Star which you are to me, Al Star

From now on I think I'll call Mystic Melody "M&M" instead of just MM.

I like Native American names. They are descriptive names. We should all give each other Native names.

We can call BR " Poops In The Woods."

LoL not "Dances with Poop"? Sorry, my Native American name knowledge is severely limited and I have trouble with the "P" word. <-Libra thing

Ok, thank goodness you like Dee, I was worried I was going to be "Betty" if you were "Al".

My great uncle's Indian name was Turnip Seed. I'm serious.

His name outside of the Nation was John Whitehair.

A little Native American boy asked his father, the big chief of the tribe, "Papa, why is it that we always have long names, while the white men have shorter names - Bill, Tex or Sam, for example?"

His father replied ...

"Look, son, our names represent a symbol, a sign, or a poem for our culture. For example, your sister's name is Small Romantic Moon Over The Lake, because on the night she was born, there was a beautiful moon reflected in the lake.

Then there's your brother, Big White Horse of the Prairies, because he was born on a day that the big white horse who gallops over the prairies of the world appeared near our camp. It's very simple and easy to understand.

Do you have any other questions, Little Broken Condom Made in China?"

Pet names or nicknames I usually do not mind but sappy or demeaning so called endearments I generally find very unappealing.
My eXes both thought dirty talk was sexy and or silly baby talk and Elmer Fudd talk was cute. It was often utilized to try to apologize for being an idiot for doing something stupid(like getting a speeding ticket jacked up for badmouthing a cop, or getting fired for drinking on the job, or having a temper tantrum over a football game and punching a window out or getting mad at the car and kicking a dent in it etcetera) or trying to con me into swinging with other couples or forgiving one for "losing it" and oops, claiming to accidently having an affair. Or worse, catching the clap and going all Sweetie Sugar Pie I am soooo sorry Babe I didn't know the hot ***** had anything, she looked clean. Forgive me please, come on Baby Doll, Poopsie Pie, you know how you are the only one who rocks my world, I just missed you sooo much Honey Pot Hot Pants, and she looked sooo much like you! Sugar Baby, Wuvvy Dovey Luv Of My Life please forgive me! I'm just a silly horny man not a Sweet Girly Woman like you, and I had a weak moment while away from you. I was lonely Babe. Then more baby cutesy talk thinking sex was ok to ask for as long as they used protection!
Blecch!
And the stupid Amish Guys at the job I used to have. They called me DOLLY because of my f/g boobs. Or Boobsie or Betty Boobs. Even at corporate meetings the boss did this to me.
I do not find it sexy to be called Hoochie Mamma or Hot B!tch or the other crap some men find sexy.
While I do not like not being good looking and fit anymore, I do not miss the cat calls and the juvenile goo gaa gaa baby talk and foul talk some men use to try to be cute and endearing. Arrested social developement at age 12?
Another thing both exes did was introduce me as the Little Woman or My Old Lady. I really hated that crap.
With so many honest and decent words such as Beloved, and such, or my real name, why resort to idiot talk and baby talk or crudeness?

Dee hehe funny, hey, I want to be Small Romantic Moon Over the Lake

Fayte, I would have lovingly called the clap guy Batting Practice. Rubbed his cutsey wootsey head and said, Now you just stay right here while I try out this aluminum bat sweetie pie shnooky wookims... Oh, wait, that isn't legal OR spiritual. Ahhh, okay fine, I'll just entertain the wicked thought for a few seconds, rise above temptation, and then move on...
But seriously, sorry that happened to you. It must have been devastating and just horrible. I'm glad you found your husband.

I like to call my eldest son 'bunny rabbit' (especially as a baby) and my youngest seems to get 'smugglins' as well as 'little lumlins'

My boyfriend often gets variations of his own name!

Terrible for a woman to have to go through that when she entrusts herself to a man. I would second what MM said. Those would be my feelings too. Jerks would be too mild a word for those two guys. I imagine it makes you appreciate the good husband you now have, moreso than a woman who has not had that past experience would be able to do.

It has also served to make you the woman that you are today. All in your past has done that which is what is so very admirable about you. Many people would not have been able to overcome and rise above all that you have. Shows a lot of inner strength and courage.

I would also imagine that your present husband helped enormously in you overcoming the pain inflicted on you by the other two with his gentle, compassionate love which is such a contrast to what you had prior to meeting him. No wonder you treasure him and his love so. He's a God send.

Thank you!
I was too downtrodden and submissive to stick up for myself. The batboy, was like that fellow in "Sleeping With The Enemy".(but without the physical abuse) Handsome and an absolute charmer who never let me forget how lucky I was to have him. I pitied him too because of a few heart attacks he'd had before age 30. He played on my pity and doubts of my self worth. So oddly the hateful thoughts never came to me. But desperation did. He ran my life, charted when I slept, what I ate, when I ate, and I was not allowed to visit any friends unless he approved. He made me wear my hair and makeup and dress as he saw fit. I totally lost myself. I finally left him as the disabled person I am now.(I discovered he was a Heroin addict all those years but he hid it well. Now I know where all the money went.) I married #2 on the rebound.
Younger than my husband now, he flattered me and honestly did not hate my being disabled or heavy then due to the steroids and being bedridden alot.{He actually liked large women!} But he only wanted to escape his homelife and unfortunately I became more a second Mommy rather than a wife. He was a closet alcoholic and a pedophile I discovered to my horror. After my attempted suicide I left him also.
BTW, I do not mind slang endearments from and to a child.
But not from or to an adult as a general rule. In private and or in seriousness, with true love and respect, usually with my real name added to them, Beloved, Dear, Honey, all fine.
I dared God and the Universe for my mental and Spiritual Equal. He is my husband #3, the most perfect partner for me I can imagine! He gave me the most wonderful compliment any man has ever given me! "I love your mind and true soul" The feeling is definitely mutual! Even without the contrst of my experiences with the other two, my husband is beyond a treasure and a true perfect blessing from God to me!

LMAO Star

Strong Bull Sh!tting might be more like it. hee hee

I agree with what some others have said here. I like endearing nicknames but hate that Snookie Wookums kind of stuff. It's a cute way to talk to kitty cats and babies but not adults. But everyone is different and whatever floats your boat is how I see it.

Brat, that my husband has always called me, is cute and I can be a brat at times. That my friends have nicknames for me like Gracie and my best friend calls me "Con" shortening my given name is definitely endearing to me.

We have always had nicknames for our kids, Lisa ( Lialei ) we always called "Gert," Mark was "Mugwump" and my husband nicknamed our youngest, Scott, "The Assassin." Once in a store a woman said to my husband when he called Scott that, " How can you call that cute, sweet little child that?" And my husband told her, " You don't know him very well." Scott was just always "Scottie" to me.

The grandkids are Emily, " The Emster" or "M", Ayla was always "Booger Butt," Madeline is "Maddie," Cerise ( because her given name in French is the word for "Cherry") we call her "Cherry." But since the age of 4 or 5 she insists on it being spelled "Ceri." Brody my husband nick named " Brodalino" and I sometimes call him " The Brodster."

Those names just pop into your head and stick. But at a certain age you cut them off so they don't stick for life. Unless in the case of Maddie and Cherry. At a certain age Scott no longer wanted to be called "Scottie."

My husband's real name is Frank ( short for Francis which he hates ) and at work they called him Frank. But I call him "Butch." That's a childhood nickname his mom gave to him and since I have known him from the age of 12 I feel weird calling him anything but Butch. I like that name anyway.

I call my cats by nicknames. Zeke I sometimes call "Zeekers" and Max is "Maxi Paws" because he has cute little chubby feet.

Nicknames are cute and very endearing. Funny thing is that even though they just pop in your head you find they have some personality meaning. I looked up both "Gert" and "Mugwump" for Lisa and Mark because I wondered why particularly those names popped into my mind for them. Then I discovered well, they just fit them. Mugwump is a Native American word meaning "warrior" or " war leader." The name Mark means the same thing and I didn't even know mugwump was a Native word until I looked it up. Too weird.

I should add, I do like "honey" "dear" "darling" and things like that. And in the context of joking around in private once in a while with a loved one, "snookie wookie" would be okay too. But not all the time.

I tried to put this in last post but it wouldn't fit, so here goes!
You said:
quote:
I would also imagine that your present husband helped enormously in you overcoming the pain inflicted on you by the other two with his gentle, compassionate love which is such a contrast to what you had prior to meeting him. No wonder you treasure him and his love so. He's a God send.
He is to me all that and more! Yes he helped me overcome those things and because he wanted me to be myself, not a clone of him. He saw the real me inside and helped me get to finally know myself and be ME! A few weeks before I had dared and asked God for my mental and Spiritual Equal, he had oddly done exactly the same thing!

I do love Owls!
Especially the gentle faced Barn Owls and the adorable tiny screech Owl and the noble Great Eastern Horned Owl. And the cute little Owlet some call the PeeWee, but not sure what its actual name is. I love their many kinds of hoots and whooooos. Very lovely! The little ones that live in the Giant Cactus out West are nice too!
Ok...I LOVE Owls!

"Aponi" sounds familiar like I heard it in a movie. Now I want to write down all of the names I hear in movies, like my daughter's movie, "Brother Bear" which I LOVE, and look them up. Did you get those from a specific web-site or did you already know them?

Some I knew, MM, others I looked up at a web site. Just googled in Native American names and their meanings.

It's weird but I know more Lakota phrases and words than I do my own, Cherokee. I have a good friend who lives in Colorado and he is half Lakota Sioux. He lived for a time on the Pine Ridge reservation. He taught me a lot about the Lakota people and taught me some of the language.

So I am a Cherokee who speaks Lakota. LOL

My ex-h used to call PMS Pumpkin-Monster-Syndrome.

He was, after all, an Aqua.

I used to call him Mr. Frizzy (bit of an obvious one this, a referral to his Einstein hair - it stood up on its own)

I do NOT like being called "Baby".

Other nicknames...grrreaat but usually variations on the person's name, or far too personal for here.

Variations of names I do not mind either.
I do not mind my names in other languages for example. Or other variations of my names using different spellings/slight pronunciation differences, where the etymology stays relatively the same or just as nice! And is not being used in a demeaning or condescending manner, but as purely an endearment or affectation and not a tool of coercion or "trying" to be cute and or simpering, or sarcastic, for any ulterior motives.
