I cannot drink milk from a plastic tumbler because one time someone put white ivory liquid dish soap in one because they needed the bottle. They used my milk tumbler. I took a big swig.
I threw up. So milk in plastic cups or glasses will make me throw up or feel like it. I only use glass for milk now.

Dented cans. I got real bad food poisoning as a kid from one. So I cannot bear to eat from any dented can now. I know most of the time it is just a dent, nothing wrong with the food, but I just cannot bring myself to eat it. If I visit someone and they serve anything from a can I either do not eat it or look in the trash to make sure the can looks ok.
I also refrigerate bread(or carefully inspect it) because once I made a sandwich in the dark and bit it and it moved. Ants! Big Black ANTS in the bread!

One more! Long fingernails! I was at a dinner once helping prepare the food, and saw that the women with long fingernails did not wash their hands after using the bathroom! They were talking about their periods, and I was like eeeewwwwww....they are touching the food now! Eeeewwwww!
Another time I was at a picnic and a lady relative was making cracks all ha ha very funny, about her long false nails and how one fell off in the potatoe salad, but she found it ha ha ha, so its ok to eat folks!
Bleeeeccch!
So unless I know the long taloned ladies use plastic gloves to prepare food I will not touch their possibly contaminated preparations! Some of them do not wash their hands before touching food even after diapering their babies! Ewwwww!

Hee hee! This is kinda fun!
I was at a friend's apartment and we ordered Pizza. Ok, all was fine, I knew the Pizza folks use gloves. But when the cat got done using the litter box and hopped on the open pizza box lid, even though he missed the pizza, I could not bring myself to eat the pizza.

Yeah, I get grossed out about ickies in food or near food easily. I totally understand how you feel on that point!

Is this like pet-peeves?

Mine is hair on a bar of soap, or on the bathtub-shower enclosure. I taught my girls
to rinse the soap, before they get out, and
they, and I, must take two papertowels, and
wipe the bathtub/shower enclosure down, making sure there are no hairs, lol

is that wierd?

That's funny!

the only bugs that bug me, are flies, maybe it's just because I know they are grown up maggots, gross, lol

yes, I know maggots can be good, and doctors use them on gangrene, but still, since I saw that movie Lost Boys, and his chinese rice turned to maggots, yuck!

This isn't funny like the previous posts, I hope that is OK. My phobia/idiosyncrasy/odd behavior is that I am the shyest person on earth. In the past I have always been fine meeting new people if it came as a surprise (like if a friend brought another friend along on an outing, unannounced), but any planned meetings freak me out more than you can imagine! I think I have lost good opportunities for friendships/romance because of this oddness. I don't really know where it comes from. I am definitely not weirded out by my physical appearance, people have told me my whole life that I am beatiful and it is something that I take for granted, I don't even think about my appearance at all. Also, I have no problem with public speaking like for school. But social situations with strangers (even posting on here)make me shake and clam up like a...clam.
So why am I like this???

Adrienne, I don't see you as shy, you just posted unshyly in yellow wax, for Heart--Shaped Cross, and in one string, you told him you were a castle, and to storm you, that's not shy at all,
and public speaking is something a shy person can't do, they will take an F in school, rather than do an oral report!

it must be something else, but not shyness, what do you think?

Stephen,
I just want to take this opportunity to tell you that you are AMAZING
You have tried very hard and stuck around while being attacked and utterly ganged up on on that thread on FFA that dare not speak it's name, lol. Your patience and straightforward attempts at clarity and truth are awe-inspiring especially in such a harsh environment of really angry people who twist everything. I don't know how you do/did it.
I am very proud of the way you stick up for yourself and speak the truth despite the negative voices.

Just remember that your love shines a million times brighter in contrast to the shadow of their negativity.

"I've always thought that if I was popular, I must be doing something wrong."
--Suzanne Vega

PS. If anyone tries to belittle me or attack me for supporting my friend and stating my truth, please know ahead of time that I will not take your bait--you will get no response from me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this is not shyness, sorry, I am just trying to understand what is really going on, this is all so weird to me!
Was it okay for you to insult people, "the shadow of their negativity."
Come on!?
Starr33,
I don't even look into a mirror for 30 minutes, in a 24 hour peroid. Maybe, about 15 mintues would be the max.
mirrors used to made of Mercury, I sometimes think of them in a bad way, must be the movies and stories, lol
Gads! I use to pass out from terror when asked to do a book report in front of the class! I did take Fs many times because I was too afraid. It was not until I took a College Speech class and stopped stuttering that I got partially over my terror. Then later in 1988 I took and then taught a Dale Carnegie course. Public speaking fear gone. I have learned to mingle in large groups but generally end up in a corner with one or two folks. Or mostly I just do not put myself in those situations any more than absolutely necessary. I still find it EXTREMELY difficult to talk to most women in person, except for a hello or whatever.
Spiders and maggots! Yuck here too! I do not mind medicinal ones or medicinal leeches, but not free roaming ones. And you KNOW the icky things flies have been trotting in! EEeeewwwww!
Ah Fayte, you are too funny!
I took some F's myself, I was extremely shy,
when I was younger, after High School, it
got better, but I still have a hard time
talking in front of a group, but after a
few minutes, it gets better, and I can deal
with it, hehe
Starr33, I have never covered them up, and have them all over the house, I just can't seem to look in them very long, there's too much to do, lol
Scrying, I would like to try this, but have not, YET!
I love mirrors not to look at myself in, cannot see good enough up close anyhow so why bother?
But I love the way many mirrors reflect the light!
Lotus, my husband makes our own scrying mirrors! It is a very interesting thing, scrying that is!
Lotus,
Yeah it might be "something else"...I am accostomed to calling it shyness, but maybe that is not the right word? It is confusing, even to me...it is definintely crippling and has interfered with my life a great deal. It is centered around MEETING PEOPLE specifically. Even meeting people online is hard or on the telephone (that is harder), but in person is the hardest for me.
Public speaking is a piece of cake for me it has never been a problem...
wow, Adrienne, it might have to do with people's energies, maybe you are really sensitive to that, and it causes you some anguish, maybe not the right word, but a
strange feeling, making you uncomfortable.
Like confrontations with people!?
could be a past life thing?
LOve to YOU, and ALL. ...
