For those of you with a penchant for fantasy/sci-fi films, and LL seems to be well-represented in that regard... *300* the film based on Frank Miller's 1998 graphic novel about The Battle of Thermopyle in 480 b.c. is set for [2 disc DVD] release this week 8/1. The film enjoyed huge box office returns... with admittedly little cinematic competition around it's debut...but none the less Hollywood will mine this territory because it is so obviously a cash cow The History Channel even had a few specials in heavy rotation at the time. One of them quite good. For you women out there who might have passed on this one because you thought the violence might be a little too full of blood-spray for your tastes....yes, I might be a professional chef, and brandish my 10" chef's blade with a sneer... and carve carcasses for a living..but this film is quite stylized. Much of the fighting is done in slo-motion and the sepia tones are beautiful. So, if you didn't see it on the large screen, with the audio blasting, well, you missed it. you really missed it. P.s. all of the men are shirtless and have six-pack abs. There is a good deal of eye candy as well IP: Logged |
