finally it happened! after almost 6 to 7 months and endlessy tries i spent the entire sunday wihout smoke! not a single puff. i feel so good about it. and healthy. and wiser!

saturday i crossed the limit. 10 sticks with booze. and then at night i felt terrible. i couldnt sleep. i felt as if my stomach was burning. and that motivated me to not have it anymore.

for those who have quit, please tell me what challenges i would face. and what i should do. i dont want to smoke today at any cost.

That is a wonderful news brother! Infact smoking do keep you down and out!

You can not only stop it for now, you will come out of it completely too!

Good day!

Good for you Evo! I have quit since April. When it starts to get to me, I jsut change the subject and find something else to do or think about. I just keep telling myself that I am not stupid enough to light up again after going so long without. THe best to you in you endevor.

Challenges?

You might feel a bit sick for a few weeks. When I quit for 8 months in the Navy I timed it to coincide with already being sick so that I wouldn't notice it as much.

For at least 21 days you'll likely have strong cravings to smoke. It takes 21 days to create a new habit, so it's the same to break one. Commit to it. If you want to use the patch, use it strictly by the book. Don't cheat, or it's over. The gum, if it's available to you, isn't great in my opinion. Skip that one.

Commit to the idea that you're not a smoker. You sincerely have to convince yourself of your new lifestyle choice. Remember what it was like to be a non-smoker, and keep in mind all the great things happening as you continue not to smoke like easier breathing, more energy, and more money.
