Some of the Artists from the show, it's on Sundance Channel.
  • Massive Attack
  • Wynton Marsalis
  • John Meyer (Mayer?)
  • Jamiraquai
  • Goo Goo Dolls
  • Primal Scream
  • Paul Simon
  • RHCPeppers
  • Iron Maiden
Filmed performances of recordings from the famed studio. One of my favorites was the show that had Wynton Marsalis recording tunes from his From the Plantation to the Penitentiary disc from March of this year. One song Where Y'all At Wynton sermonizes like a country preacher in a pseudo rap/jazz style in a song that I believe Nas wrote. I tried to get the lyrics to paste here...all I'm getting is the "Nas" lyric, and I do not believe they are the same as the ones from A>Road.
Anyhooo, I fell in major like a few years back when Ken Burns did his many part Jazz documentary where Marsalis was heavily used in interview to relate some of his thoughts on the genre. Wynton is an extremely articulate, talented individual who is a walking encyclopedia/historian on Jazz
Anyway this is a cool show....
I've only found a partial..From the field hand cry/to the ten to twenty-five
From the 'sold-off' men/To the raised by next-of kin...
From the 'no book' rules/To the raggly public schools
From the coon and shine/To the unemployment line...
From the work long days/To the dope and drinking craze
From the stock in slaves/To the booming prison trade...
In the name of freedom... insane/In the name of freedom…and shame
In the heart of freedom... in chains/In the heart of freedom…insane

RE:Mayer his performance on the recent Global Warming concert telecast was one of the highlights. His Abbey Road was excellent as well. Alicia Keys was strong on live Earth. Most of the performances were uneven imo

re: goo goo's, frankly never paid much attention to them, but I'll load the show and watch it.
Been in a rut lately- need new blood in the playa. Mostly listen to my own culled compilations. I am a Diva comp maker
Others like my Celtic comps. I have two= A Headbangers Celtic Ball & Cry Me A Dublin River.
    Disc A includes
  • Ashley MacIssic
  • Flogging Molly
  • Drop Kick Murphy's
  • Cranberries
Disc 2 incl.
    Loreena Mckennit
  • Enya
  • Rick Wakeman
  • Clannad
But my Trance/Electronica mixes & Jazz/chilled have a cult following as well...
