I posted this at GU but decided to post it here at FFA as well.

I know many will disagree with me but I'm very happy to see this man die for the murder of that child. It was worse than just murder. After he kidnapped her from her bed and raped her he buried her alive and walked away to go on with his sorry life. Her little body was found clutching tightly her stuffed dolphin. This image still haunts me and always will.
His death won't bring her back to life but it's something he deserves. I think he is getting off easy. They should bury his sorry a$$ alive.

quote:

At one point in their talk, Couey expressed regret, telling his aunt, "I kick myself in the butt a hundred times a day," adding, "I just keep asking myself, why were you so stupid?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Doesn't sound "retarded" to me that he knew they would put him to death. He should be asking himself, not why he was so stupid, but why he is so evil.

Glad to see the world ridded of this b*stard!!

Couey Gets Death Penalty For Lunsford Murder
Judge Follows Jury Recommendation

POSTED: 1:50 pm EDT August 24, 2007
UPDATED: 5:58 pm EDT August 24, 2007

INVERNESS, Fla. -- A judge in Florida has agreed with a jury's recommendation and sentenced John Evander Couey to death for the kidnap, rape and murder of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford.

The jury recommended on a 10-2 vote that Couey be executed.

It's a crime that led to new laws in many states cracking down on convicted sex offenders.

After the sentencing, sheriff's deputies quickly hustled Couey out of the courtroom, where the girl's father and other relatives embraced.

Couey buried the girl alive after kidnapping her from her bedroom and raping her. Her body was found about three weeks after she disappeared, in a grave in Couey's yard about 150 yards from her own home.

Couey's lawyers had argued that he couldn't legally be executed because he's mentally retarded, but the judge rejected that claim earlier this month.

The slain girl's father, Mark Lunsford, said his message for Couey is to "skip all these appeals" and "take your punishment."

The St. Petersburg Times reported earlier that the 49-year-old Couey told his aunt he expected to be sentenced to death.

The newspaper published excerpts from a jailhouse conversation that was recorded.

At one point in their talk, Couey expressed regret, telling his aunt, "I kick myself in the butt a hundred times a day," adding, "I just keep asking myself, why were you so stupid?"

He also told her he wants to be cremated.

In advance I will say you can save your lectures on forgiveness and my attitude not being Christian and blah, blah, blah. I know those things and my attitude is human, not Christian when it comes to treating a baby or small child cruelly and inhumanely as if their little lives meant nothing. Besides, this man does not want forgiveness. He wants to be set free after a short sentence to continue his evil life of raping and killing children. Which is what normally happens and why I am so happy about the judge and jury's decision in this case.

I agree with you, Mirandee. I used to not believe in the taking of Life as punishment. But in this case, this excuse for a "man", and his subhuman roommates too, deserve to be permanently removed from our society. I generally don't believe in money being more important than Life, but in this case I wouldn't want my tax dollars supporting his unspeakably evil a$$ in jail for the rest of his sorry life.
Justice Be Done.

Well, a life in prison (in the general population, not solitary) might be very just indeed.

They could tattoo his crime on his forehead. Quick death sounds too easy.

Think Clockwork Orange here. Force him to watch what he destroyed every moment of every day until he's driven insane...Or perhaps he could be sent off to the front lines of Iraq, with said tattoo of his crime on his forhead.

Maybe since they want to kill him, they should just hand him over to the family. I'm sure they could think up some appropriate justice.

It's best he die, as he's a danger to others. Gosh that sounds horribly evil, but it is best.

Meh, doesn't sound that evil, at least to me. I couldn't care less if he's a danger to others; justice is what matters.

Course, he's not getting much of it, but it's a start. What really gets me is that we have such a thing as a 'sex-offender registry.' For, y'know, when we ALLOW THEM BACK INTO SOCIETY!

I'd hang them all. After castrating them, perhaps. How's that for evil?

Yeah, I agree Johnny that he is really getting put to death a whole lot easier than his victim in this case or than he truly deserves.

I also agree about the sex offenders list. It seems that is really saying just what you said, "we are turning them loose in your neighborhood, we just want to let you know that they are there." So then what do we do? Move? Or keep our kids in the house all of the time?

I was always against the death penalty too but when it comes to harming children in any way no matter if it is a relative or parent or anyone else, the death sentence is the only thing that can be considered justice. Pediphiles cannot be cured. Castration would be a good thing too but I don't think that would stop them from harming a child. Mainly because I think it is a control thing even more than a sexual thing. Just as it is with any kind of rapist.

Throwing them in the general population of a prison with a tatoo on their forehead would be certain death as even criminals have a thing against what they call "baby killers." That might lead to the kind of death he truly deserves.

This may seem hard but there are just some things that are unforgivable. This was one of the most heinous things I ever heard. Obviously it was the same for the jury and the judge.

'she was found clutching her little stuffed dolphin' That makes me want to cry.

Of course he should be banished from society. No question. Although a couple of weeks in prison mixing with the hardest mother-f*ckers on the planet knowing what he did would be a nice prelude to him being gassed / shot whatever... What do you say?

I think everyone is right, death is way too easy for this person.

The punishment should fit the crime, he deserves to be brutally raped and murdered. I like the tattoo/iraq idea, twisted but fitting.

LOL. And you call yourself a Christian.

All of you are showing your beastly sides.

All of you mongering for blood.

Your emotions are clouding your judgment.

This is why I feel so alone and ahead of my time.
And you can call that arrogance, or whatever,
but the truth is that love, not retribution, is the answer,
and history will prove me right about this,
even if it takes millenia for the masses to see.

Here is a man unfit for society,
born or made into a monster...

Not one of you mentions the possibility of reforming him -
or is that beyond the power of Christ?

You just want to punish him, see him suffer.
You call that "justice".
Two wrongs make a right, eh?

Justice is when the man sees the error of his ways,
and a change is wrought in his heart,
and he is born again.
That is the only justice in this world,
and, yes, it is rare.

The way to that justice is through mercy,
and it is rare because mercy is rare.

You love and you love and you love,
and, if that doesnt work, you love.
Because the end is not as important as the means.

You are all corrupting your own souls by revelling in bloodlust, like pigs in sh!t.

And this man, what will happen to him?

I'll tell you...

He is about to be set free into the astral realms,
where he can wreak vengence on you and yours,
and do far more damage than he could in jail,
or in a mental hospital,
which is where people like this belong
(and, if you disagree,
just try to argue that raping a 9-yr-old is the act of a sane man).

As for society having to support people like this....

Society created people like this.
Society is responsible for them and their actions.
We all share this man's guilt.
Every harsh word, every cold dismissive gaze,
contributes to the atmosphere upon which we all feed.
And some people, for whatever reason,
are habituated to junkfood diets of pure hatred,
and all of us are feeding them from time to time.

Threads like this one...
posts calling for blood...
they send out vibrations of darkness,
and those vibrations are attracted to certain people like magnets,
and they make those people more and more full of hatred and bloodlust.

Do you really wish to end senseless rape and violence?
Then do not contribute to it with your own bloodlust!

You may as well crowd around the man,
as he commits the rape and murder,
and vigorously cheer him on.

In a spiritual sense,
that is precisely what you are doing.

Please,
consider these things,
and consider my intentions,
before you vilify me.

I understand your comments, Solane.
I expected them.

But I am not judging.
I am diagnosing.

Or does a doctor judge when he says,
"You are sick,
and you are making yourself,
and everyone around you,
sicker by doing this-or-that,"?

I know it is unpleasant to hear yourselves spoken of thusly,
and to learn that you are stricken with an illness,
but my intention is not to cause you unpleasant feelings -
that is a necessary evil.

If I thought I could present this truth in a softer way,
pantomiming with bunnies on my hands, I would.
Unfortuneatly, however you dress it up,
the truth is still "you have cancer".
And it is disturbing.

My intention is to alert you to the reality and seriousness of this,
and to cut out the malignant part.

If it disturbs you to see yourselves as I see you,
it proves that you have some sense,
and are not content to be bloodhungry beasts.

Listen to that.
Learn from that.

I have compassion for you. Believe me.

If I am not judging the rapist,
how can you believe that I am judging you?

I am only speaking the truth.

A Christian does not cry for blood,
a frog does not fly,
and a healthy man does not rape little girls.

It is a contradiction in terms.

The moment you cry for blood,
you prove that you are not a Christian.

This is not a judgement,
any more than it is a judgement to say
to a frog who thinks itself a bird,
"You are not a bird,".

The frog may protest and say, "Don't judge me!"
But the frog remains a frog,
and the truth remains the truth.

I would rather the truth were pleasant, Solane.
But I will speak it even when it is disturbing.

"'The truth will set you free'
but first it will make you mad."
- Aldous Huxley

Thank you for speaking out, HSC. There are reasons why I chose not to, but had similar thoughts on the subject.

The first thing I thought of was that this man would now be released into the astral, carrying along with him his sickness and unresolved karma, and inflicting more negativity on another or even more levels now.

Most of the people here I think hold the belief that we "dont die" only our bodies do. But I have to think, after reading this thread, that they must think that by killing a man, we are "done with him", free of him and his nastiness. Or by his death he is automatically purified in some way and we are rid of him forever???

Maybe some people think that way...

That some people dont count or deserve to be helped and must be killed. That anyone has the right to take another man's life.

It's clear to me that killing this man will do nothing but force people to have to deal with or face him again in some form or another at some time or another. He obviously has karma to work out and will reincarnate to do so. Maybe next time he will be the victim and you will all want to kill his perpetrator. By the extreme emotions that are stirred up in you by this incident, you can be sure you will come face to face with "this story" again.

And the cycle will continue on and on until....well, i'm sure you can all figure that out.

And HSC, you are ahead of your time.

Know that someone hears the voice behind your words and doesnt judge you or need you to "PRESENT" them in the way that I see fit. Or expect you to conform and watch every word you say so it doesnt upset people's ______'s.

Thanks for putting yourself out on the line.

Maybe we could focus less on trying to knock HSC down a few pegs and more on the intention behind his words.

Some of you here might not like the way he comes across, but he brings up good points. Why is it that some of you here have such a hard time accepting him for the way he is?

It wouldnt hurt to focus more on the message than the messager here.

And I also expected you to comment right away on such matters!!!

Because Judgement always looks for some form of acknowledgement to prove a point.

Balance of EGO, needing to be heard and heeded!!!! Only ones EGO JUGDES, not the HEART!!!!

You are not the Judge or the Doctor here!!!

So what you say here is no different to me then , what the rest say here also, doesn't make yours more the truth or your way of thinking it better then anyone else's here, more true.

Your missing the only point here and thats, that you don't need to attack others to get a message across, your message may just hold alot of the truth , but eithers don't hear your message or your truth, when you choice to deliver it in such a manner as you do!!!

Quote:

The above is a JUDGEMENT call on others honey!!! Your trying to dance around the issue at hand here, while you make your point!!!(Judgement)Only the Ego needs to be RIGHT or WRONG!!!

We already know who far you will go to prove a point, right or wrong!!!!

People don't follow or listen to someone that tries to make them mad to learn or hear something. LOL!!!

The truth will only set one free and give you a Golden Heart, when one allows their own inner truth to come from within them-s-elves, be connecting only with their core source.(GOD)Not by condeming others first to get there. I don't care if their Doing it also, doesn't make your any better!!!

At's all the same game.

Anyways, I'm sure you will not get this, because you haven't in the past!!!

It's O.K HSC!!!

Hate to repeat myself but it seems necessary at this point.

We are judging but HSC is "diagnosing." LOL Then why do you tell us that we are judging, HSC. Can't you just look at it that we are all "diagnosing" as well?

I would not disagree one bit with what you said in your sermon, HSC. I stated I knew all those things.

Actually you really want us to vilify you HSC so I am not going to do that.

There will always be those whose misguided compassion is placed on the person who committed the crime instead of on the victim. Tell me, if it were your 9 year daughter who was dragged out of what was probably pleasant happy dreams of running and playing from her bed in the middle of night, viciously raped and then put in a hole in the ground ALIVE, covered with dirt and left to suffocate would you be this compassionate toward the man who did it? Would you be that compassionate if this heinous act actully affected you and your life? Can you imagine the fear that baby experienced through all of this and especially the fear she experienced lying in that grave, covered with dirt and suffocating? It was not an instant death.

All he felt about it was that it was just "stupid" of him. What he did goes far beyond the range of just doing something stupid.

I am Christian. I am just not a perfect Christian, HSC. Nor am I a perfect human being in general. Few of us mere mortals have attained the complete perfection that you have, HSC so it's nice that you in your holiness have compassion for us.

Being that you are a pure and holy man, above all us and far ahead of other human beings in general, instead of "diagnosing" us and lecturing us, why don't you just pray for our evil souls, HSC.

We all know the right things here. But we are all human beings whose compassion lies with that baby and how she ended her life being treated as if she was nothing. Our compassion lies with her parents and family whose lives were shattered by what happened to her and who will have to go on living with the emptiness and void without her - without watching her run and play and laugh each day and hearing her talk about fairies, princesses, and all the things that children enchant your lives with.

Her life ended violently when the evil ogre got his hands on her.

Yes, Jesus would show compassion and forgiveness and mercy. Not only that Jesus would understand that we are reacting from our human emotions to an evil, heinous crime and would know it was due to our compassion for that child and her family. That's what Jesus does, HSC. Sorry, I am not Jesus nor do I pretend to be. Neither are you, HSC. If your were anything at all like Jesus you would just understand our emotions regarding this man, you would understand our reaction to his being put to death for what he did instead of lecturing us and "diagnosing" us.

Take your microscope and your piety and stuff it, HSC. We aren't here to be your specimens for diagnosing.

Go read in Scripture the story of the man in the front pew and the guy in the back. The man in back was beating his chest in regret over not being the perfect person he should be and doing the right things all the time. While the man in the front pew was talking to God and saying how blessed he is not to be like the man in the rear but instead to be above all that. To that Jesus said in so many words, when the two men left the church the man in the rear was justified. Jesus saw the man in the front pew as being arrogant.

He called a spade a spade and I will say it is arrogance on your part because that is precisely what it is, HSC. No matter how much you attempt with words and explanations to whitewash and color it. A spade is still a spade.

Now bring on the cheerleading squad to help you in playing the poor, misunderstood martyr.

I know we won't be spared the drama along with the lecture because I have caught this act many, many times so I have come prepared.

Knew it was inevitable because it has been way too quiet around LL for some folks. But we expressed our feeling and opinions and you have expressed yours, HSC. I suggest and would prefer you let it go at that.

Hmmmm, so perhaps this poor misunderstood man that we are cruelly condemning as a “monster” should just do a bit of time in jail, or a mental hospital, be “rehabbed” (since the possibility exists for EVERYONE to be rehabbed, yes??) and then be sent back out amongst the rest of society. After all, I guess it’s **MY** fault that he is the way he is, so I deserve to be punished too – by some twisted excuse for a human being hurting or killing my child, or the child of someone else, AGAIN and AGAIN (with timeouts for rehab, of course). And btw, how long should **I** be sentenced to be punished by monsters in human flesh for **my** part in making them the way they are?? Is this to be a life sentence (or death) for me and my family too??

I will accept the responsibility, and the spiritual repercussions, for my “bloodlust” and my failure to accept, and incapacity to LOVE, “human” beings who do not or cannot take responsibility for their unconscionable, horrible, SICK behavior towards, or attacks upon, others. If there is little “punishment” as a deterrent, why should others who might want to follow in this murderer’s footsteps think twice about satisfying THEIR blood/lust?? They may think with glee, “after all, look at Couey, he got away with nothing but rehab – HAHA!!!!”
