Hello, since it's Halloween time, I figured a few people will be watching scary movies tonight(hopefully with someone special)and I know I definitely will be because they are my favorite...you name the movie and chances are I have probably seen it, from The Exorcist to gory like Night of the Living Dead. So what horror movies do you really like or think are very scary?

The Exorcist

The Pumpkinhead

These two are my favourites. I also like movies like Others, Ring, Changeling, Poltergeist I etc etc. Not gory but classic horror.

My first horror movie was "Tarantula" (1955) -- nightmares for weeks (I was only 10 or so)

After "Night of the Living Dead" I gave up the genre
Have never seen any of them: I'm still a Freddie/Jason virgin!!!

By far my favorite is the original 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' by Tobe Hooper.

Re: Freddie/Jason Virgin- Me too! The overt Slasher/Teen section of the genre makes me bury my head in my hands. The movies that use the less is more approach of utilizing the audience imagination to fill in the blanks appeal to me more.
Horror movies are fascinating psych profiling. The best movies, and the best writers, share a deep psychological examination of fear. What do we fear? And why?
A co-worker who collected exploitation films, and is a walking encyclopedia on the subject [he had a vast Italian director subsection] helped me to appreciate the genius and creativity in those films. But just because I appreciate films like 'Chain Saw doesn't mean I like to *watch* them.
I am looking foreword to the release of the second http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365748/ Shaun of the Dead a fun Brit Zombie movie that brilliantly mixes equal portions of comedy and Horror. A must see movie!

I HAVE to add this. I breathe music. So, the scene where Shaun and his buddy start hurling LP's at the approaching, lumbering Zombies goes like this:
[looking through Shaun's LP's for suitable records to throw at two approaching zombies]
    Ed: 'Purple Rain'?
    Shaun: No.
    Ed: 'Sign o' the Times'?
    Shaun: Definitely not.
    Ed: The 'Batman' soundtrack?
    Shaun: Throw it.
    Ed: 'Dire Straits'?
    Shaun: Throw it.
    Ed: Ooh, 'Stone Roses'.
    Shaun: Um, No.
    Ed: 'Second Coming'.
    Shaun: I like it!
    Ed: Ahhh! 'Sade'.
    Shaun: Yeah, but that's Liz's!
Ed: Yeah, but she did dump you.
    Shaun: Oh!

The Evil Dead series has great lines. Army of Darkness might be my fav. Love Dir. Sam Rami ~ Worship at the Bruce Campbell alter.
2 Quotes from AOD.
Ash: Now listen up, you primitive screw heads. See this? This... is my boom stick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You *got* that?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duke Henry: You're not one of my vassals... who are you?
    Ash: Who wants to know?
Duke Henry: I am Henry the Red. Duke of Shale, Lord of the Northlands and leader of its peoples.
Ash: Well hello Mister Fancy pants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and sh1t... and Jack just left town.
