I recently bumped a thread called "Find Your Inner Daemon" because it links to a quiz where you can find out what animal your daemon is...There are a lot of spam e-mails being sent around by church groups who feel threatened by this film. People who have never read the books, much less seen the film which will vary from the books, shouldn't be all in a tizzy. It's anti-dogma, anti-corruption, and anti-tyranny. Unless a church is dogmatic and tyrannical and corrupt, I don't see why they should be worried about the "message." The author is an atheist/agnostic (depending on the interview). Boycotting the movie based on that makes as much sense as boycotting a Woody Allen (well-known atheist) movie. The books in the series are still beautifully written, and their message is very similar to other children's fantasy books, like The Wizard of Oz or A Wrinkle in Time. IP: Logged |
