If you have a poem you would like to submit that deals with the mission statement of Poets Against War you can submit it at the site below. The following poem is one that Lisa ( Lialei) submitted 4 years ago.

Poets Against War
http://www.poetsagainstthewar.org/

Mission

Poets Against War continues the tradition of socially engaged poetry by creating venues for poetry as a voice against war, tyranny and oppression.

Earth's Plea

Lisa Earth's Plea 2/17/2003

Earth
in its natural state
is still
is silent in peace.

The rivers flow this silence.
The soil stretches its tranquility
until boisterous rovers
plough the pathways--
new wanton arteries
the Earth never longed to need.

Heartless invaders
have claimed continents
drawing line from shore to shore
While Earth's pure children
bow in disbelief,
never needing this
longing for more.

Sacred each sunrise, a treasure,
for each poet, each lover, each friend.
By loving the Earth
in its silence
By embracing the miracle of creation
we create the miracles we send.

The Earth never needed this journey,
but it may need us in the end.

re-reading that a few years
later it sounds so lame.

Thanks Mom,you're sweet though. lol

There's lots of awesome poems there.
I lost myself in there for hours one time.

BR,
from the retail jewelry/cosmetic angle,
I would add wasteful self-serving consumorism.
People can be ruthless when they're Christmas shopping.
They're on a mission.
Just stay outta their way.

Some of my co-workers have bruises
from this past weekend. (seriously)
We huddle in the break room,
like soldiers bonding in a war.

I've been yelled at and swore at
and the seasons just begun.

Merry Freakin' Christmas.
