I;'ve just found out that my husband has lymphoma of the spine, at T8 region. They are talking about starting radiation on friday. Please keep my family in your thoughts, meditations and prayers. Sorry this is short. I don't have much time right now.

Here's a bit of an update for what I know right now.

I truly, deeply, am so grateful to just have your support during this time, these words seem so inadequate to describe this, but thank you.

According to the surgeon and others, the cancer has eaten away most of the vertebrae at the T8 region, and has left his spinal cord exposed. Kevin has to wear a brace, so that the bone that's left doesn't collapse down on itself. The cancer had expanded and had been putting pressure on his spinal cord. They want to start radiation on Friday. The radiologist doctor will be by this morning sometime to talk about what options we have at this point. Apparently if you are going to have cancer in/on your spine, they tell us that this is the kind to have. Because lymphoma is very treatable with radiation. So small blessings to be grateful for. He is currently on a anti-inflammatory steroid, and that has reduced most of the inability to feel his feet and lower legs, and he can walk around pretty well. Also all his pain is gone and the symptoms of what we thought were an ulcer are no longer there. The doctors told us if it had gone on untreated much longer he'd have ended up paralyzed from the chest down, which would be irreversable.

From what we've been able to tell from doing some research on the internet, this is a very rare kind of cancer, in only 1% of people contract this. We will have more information from the biopsy this morning, though full results won't be ready until Thursday. He has to have a bone marrow draw this morning to check and see if the cancer has gone there.

I feel like I've been run over by a bus at this point. This isn't something you expect to have to deal with in your early 30's. The children are staying with friends close to the hospital, and I also am able to sleep there as well. We are able to be there until the end of the week, which is a great weight off my mind.

I will update again when I know more information.

Ok so I can't sleep. I've had 6 hours, which is more than I had last night, and this in a bed too!

We've been moved into the suite due to having so many visitors. The amount of love and support is so humbling to me. people seem to be coming out of the woodwork.

All those little things, which have seemed to me so important, and were worrysome to me, have suddenly become insignificant. (I've been known to fret about things for those of you who don't know me as well.)

It's like being yanked up short by life and told "hello remember what's truly important?" Which is a good thing, and also you wonder why it took you so long to remember. And it makes you grateful that you figured it out before any more life goes by.

Not much else, just wanted to talk out loud for a moment.

Goatgirl, I'm so sorry to hear that you and your family have to go through this. You are in my thoughts! Also I wanted to let you know about a site where you can make healing requests from people who send distant reiki. I don't know if it's ok to request for your husband as I'm not sure what conditions are ok to treat with reiki, but you can always ask.
