Alright so in 5 days - this upcoming Sunday - I am flying to Texas to visit my mother, grandmother, sister and stepfather Mike. I saw my mom last Christmas in NYC so that's cool but I haven't been back to the very small town Texas that I spent a chunk of my childhood in since 2001, I think. I'm very excited because my mother's completely redone the house and she's brilliant at that. She says I won't recognize it and she's made it look like an Italian Villa.

The town has less than 3000 people and is an hour from a decent sized city but 3 1/2 hours from Houston. SO there is nothing to do except go to Sonic and Dairy Queen and I like that for a vacation because it means it forces me to chill out. London in March and New York City last December were AWESOME but it was constant running around for a week each. This vacation will be just family time, watching movies, listening to music, sitting around a fire talking, etc.

It'll be great!

I really wanted to bring Hunter with me but he's leaving for New York City with his dad on Thursday and will be there for 2 weeks. I know he'll have a good time, though, because he'll see his dad's side of the family and there are 3 cousins that are about his age that he's dying to see. I'll get him next year for Christmas.

Another fun thing about this trip is.... My boyfriend of almost a year - Brian is going with me. SO it'll be the very first time he's met my mother. I'm TICKLED and THRILLED and so excited!! My mother's only ever met two other guys that I've had relationships with... one being Hunter's dad and the other being my first fiance back when I was 19. She didn't like either of them. She already likes Brian, though. They've chit chatted on the phone a little bit and poked fun of each other on their MySpace pages. So I'm soooooo excited about it. Aries daughter, Scorpio boyfriend and Capricorn mom.

FUN ENSUES!!!!

Plus, half of my suitcase that is going on the plane will be filled with alcohol. Oh yeah - we're all getting good and stinkin' drunk and telling stories around the firepit in the middle of winter in tiny-town Bubbaf**k, Texas. It'll be BRILLIANT!!!! Plus, my mom's gone all out and redecorated the guest house for us so we'll have our own place to disappear when the need arrives.... *cough*

Nothing to do?? Take a drive and see some of that gorgeous scenery there. Will you be anywhere near the coast? I read there's a HUGE (1200 mile) coastline sanctuary with 1000's of different birds if you like bird watching.

I'm sure, if you do a little research, you'll find something to do there.

Have fun!!

Well! Welcome!!!

Texas has it's own kind of Christmas, depending on what part you are traveling to, there could be lots to do, despite the small town.

We are not, afterall, all cowboys/girls, oilriggers, tumbleweed chasing, country music listening to fools, now!!!

Texas is full of culture and diversity, beautiful landscapes and pleanty of them...

O, and by the way, San Antonio just got voted one of the most drunk cities in the US, so bring on the alcohol!

I wasn't necessarily bashing the 'nothing to do' part of the trip. Although I don't have fond memories of the people there except my family - I'm looking forward to the nothing to do.

I used to live in this town and there's really very little to do once I catch up on any changes that happened. I'm glad there's nothing to do... I'll relax.
