Soo... what is everyone doing this New Year's?

Bear and I are going upstairs to our landlords place to have dinner. It's called "Raclette" which is French for a specific kind of cheese (almost like fondue). You have these little individual trays and a grill on top. The bottom parts acts like an oven- so once you cook the bratwurst, chicken and beef on the grill, you cut it up and mix it with boiled potatoes and add the raclette cheese to it in the tray. Then it goes into the oven portion until all the cheese it melted.

It takes about 2 hours to have the full dinner but it's worth it. It reminds me of going to the Eastern Shore for MD blue crab and sitting around drinking beer and picking crab

We're bringing tri tip quesadillas (I'm making the tri tip now in the oven) to have while things are cooking.

Then we'll have a bonfire.

Happy New Year's everybody!!!

Oh, I forgot to add.. my landlord takes care of dogs when their owners go on Holiday (she boards them)... So there will be, 2 black labs, two German shepherds, one boxer mix, a "kickmehurtme" little dog, and a border collie.. YAY.. Saggie heaven!

Party party party! hahaha

As per Indian Calender, it is my sister's birthday today, and she is visiting us from Australia, so we are having a gala get together and buffet arranged at an island resort.

I am not a big New Year's person. But I will be spending it with one special Springer Spaniel

Happy New Year to you! Keep warm and save me some cheese fondue! Funny, I just saw the Swiss cheese fondue yesterday at Whole Foods! Be sure to share some of your dinner with the dogs!

Happy NEW YEAR 2008

------------------
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year....
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep. ~Robert Frost

Happy New Year!

I just hung out at home. Nice, cozy, and uneventful. Which is exactly how I wanted it.

Cheers,

Aphrodite

It seems like everyone had a great New Year's Eve!! Yay.. I love the quiet ones. We walked up the hill and watched the fireworks from 4 different villages. It was beautiful. German's really go all out for NYE. It was pretty subdued and the dinner was excellent.

The funniest part was having our German landlords try to tell us jokes translated from German to English while we did the same. Lots was lost in translation but we cracked up anyway.

The house was crowded, they had 5 boarder dogs in addition to their 3 dogs so fun was had by all

Aph, sounds like me...d'you think it's an Aries trend?

I'm hoping to get a break after I finish college next year though! Need to go somewhere special, but feel I have to have earned it first.

This next year will fly by.

Hey Xena,

I totally relate with you! Yes I know how you mean with must having the feeling that you've earned something before enjoying that special gift. I went to Mexico for a week in November. It was a long needed R&R trip after working so hard. There was almost nothing better at one point than having just swam in the ocean, then lounging by the seaside on Cozumel Island sipping Campari & orange juice!

Not sure if the low key NYE is an Aries thing. May be?

Hi Pid,

Man do you sure love dogs. LOL. I love them too, but they are SO EAGER! Almost every dog I've met loved to eat a lot, holy cow. Cheese, peanut butter, lettuce . . . I think someone in the animal forum said their dog ate squash??? Too cute. Glad to hear you and your husband had a good German New Year's. You'll have to share photos one day of the snowy German Wonderland.

Cheers,

Aphrodite
