http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 A young woman found dying by her parents was plagued by allergies and may have been killed by brushing her teeth, said her family.
Francesca Sanna, 19, who suffered from severe allergies, died of a massive anaphylactic shock, an inquest heard. In the days before her death, Francesca had complained her gums were sore after using a newly repackaged Aquafresh toothpaste. Minutes before she died, she had brushed her teeth for a night out with friends. Her parents found her lying in the hallway of their home and attempts by a neighbour to resuscitate her failed. Fluoride OD?? There's enough fluoride in a tube of toothpaste to kill SEVERAL people From: http://www.mercola.com/2001/may/30/toothpaste.htm "In the scale of toxicity, fluorides fall between arsenic and lead," he says. "Dental fluorosis is not just a cosmetic problem, but the visible sign of chronic fluoride poisoning, and children are more vulnerable than adults." Anyone overdosing on fluoride, he says, is in danger of developing chronic skeletal fluorosis, which can weaken bones and cause arthritis. Anti-fluoride campaigners have also pointed to isolated studies and anecdotal evidence indicating that exposure to fluoride may be linked to thyroid problems, bone cancers and hip fractures. "The danger with toothpaste is that large amounts are easily swallowed . . . " IP: Logged |

Hmmmm.. I wonder if it was one of those tainted tubes of toothpaste? What struck me most was that the article said the tube was "newly repackaged". I know that there was a problem with some toothpaste that was made in China and contained a product that was close to Anti-freeze. They flooded certain markets and some people died from it. I use fluoride-free toothpaste, which cleans teeth just as well. I used to eat toothpaste as a child but the fluoride scares scare me too much now. IP: Logged |

Thank you YFIS.. I tend to watch cases like that because I worked in epidemiology. Diseases and death patterns have always facinated me. I'm a total geek IP: Logged |

Scary stuff. I knew about the China toothpaste thing. I think it was only if you bought your toothpaste at dollar stores that was where you got the bad stuff. Not sure. Just going on memory. I don't ever swallow toothpaste but if Colgate starts making non-floride toothpaste, or does, I am going to start using that after reading this. IP: Logged |

Mirandee, Try Euthymol. Some of the Kingfisher toothpastes may also be OK. Love, Xena IP: Logged |
