Wow, is a cool looking patch, HD

You have struck a chord here and got me wanting to get into embroidery again. I used to do it all the time. I made my own patches for jeans and jean shorts back in the 70's when it was in vogue. My own designs.

Bear, I think it's true what HD said because I get the same vibes from your pictures. It's the eyes and the smile. You have a very kind face. Before I saw pictures of you I kind of imaged you in my mind as having a tough guy face being military and all. Shows how wrong we can be.

But a lot of military guys do have that tough look about them. Pid calling you Bear is the right nickname for you. Although she might have other reasons for calling you that. I am thinking teddy bear. hee hee

Hee hee. I wish I could take credit for his "Bear" nickname. But his name is Barry Jr. So his family and friends have always called him Bear. Truth be told, he is very much my Teddy Bear. I hope he doesn't weird out about this but damn, he is sooooo Romantic and cuddly. Actually, I think he adores that description.

You're right Mirandee. Most of us see Military as being these rough faced, tough guys. While they are tough, they are also so real and so young. I am trying my best to learn everyone in Bear's Company's name, along with their spouses and children. I want to make sure they know that we are always here for them.

I've always been a giver and sometimes I've been in positions where I could care for others. Now I find myself in a place where it is a duty, but I love it. I would never change my life for a minute. I don't miss being the Corporate big wig or working in a lab. I can make a difference now I a different level and take care of those families that may not have access to the information that I have.

It's always been in me. BUT.. Bear has made me a better person. I see him with his Soldiers and how much he does for them and how much he cares about them.

They couldn't wait for him to be 1SG. After this there is only one more promotion. He doesn't want it at all, because that will take him way from what he loves most, being able to directly connect with his joes (Soldiers).

I thank God every day for the man I married. He has made me a better person and he has shown me what real love is all about. I've never known that kind of love. Only the love that family gives. Now.... well, I am crying while I write this... now, I have this wonderful gift.. he gives his heart freely. He has taught me how to love without fearing. He has taught me how to be open and not be afraid of it being used against me. He is my everything and I have never known that before him.

I attribute that not only to his Leo nature, but to his beautiful Pisces Moon. He is my dreamer. He is my soulmate.

Thank you for posting such great things about him. I wish you all could meet him. He is even better in person.

Also I want to add... Love and Marriage is never easy. To love someone is, when you really feel it, but relationships are like a beautifully new pair of boots. It takes awhile to break them in (for both people).

One time Bear and I let our insecurities from our past just play with both of our heads. We had a heated argument but we made up soon afterwards. I read to him what Linda Goodman wrote in Love Signs...

"Even though not every Leo man and Sagittarian woman are fated to meet and genuinely fall in love, those that do will forge a bond that's not easy to break. But they will make an attempt! These two may at various times appear to share one thing in common- a mutual desire to pound each other's healthy egos into trembling inferiority complexes. Don't be fooled. Appearances are deceiving, more times that not. What they are actually doing is their relationship, through an odd combination of of simultaneously seeking an affirmation and denial. An Affirmation of mutual loyalty and devotion- and a denial of of an equally mutual fear of of being deceived by the faith in one another eternally required by love. " Page 534 and 535...

It's so true because every one of us is looking to be loved and accepted for who we are. I can only speak from a Sag point of few, but it seems like we try to hard to "be there" and "be supportive" for others, yet we get hurt. When our heart breaks it takes so long for us to trust again. Leo's, in my experience, are the same, so we understand each other.

But what got me most, well both of us, about this testing game is what Linda Goodman said later in the chapter....

"Because she is Mutable (adaptable) and he is Fixed (stubborn) she's the one to who should be the first to communicate her weariness with the testing - and her desire to start all over and return to the way it used to be with them, when they used to be with them- when they held hands so trustingly, like happy children, touching tenderly, full of the joy of discovering a new miracle together every morning.. when everything he did was wonderful and filled her with worship, and everything she said was magical and dear and funny....When just the nearness of his warm strength and calm wisdom made her tremble... when her brave clown grin made his heart turn over, and brought a lump to his throat as he promised himself he'd protect her forever and never allow anyone to hurt this cheerful and giving yet so vulnerable woman- even again-the way so many people did before he found her"

I really feel that.. it's amazing.

Pid

Your heartfelt words were beautifully expressed. It truly is nice to come to LL and read posts like this expressing the transforming beauty and power of love.

I could see what you described about the changes in both you and Bear through your love for each other happening on the boards of LL. I could see that the two of you brought out the beauty and the best in each other and that you were very good for each other in many ways.

I feel very honored that you both share that love openly with the rest of us here at LL. Makes me feel like part of the family.

I know what you mean about two people bringing in their past into a marriage. Happened with my marriage as well. You both are a very good example of how two people working together and communicating can work through those things and make the relationship better and better all the time. True what you said. It isn't easy and it does take both partners working at it to make a good marriage.

I also like sharing in your journey and where that is taking you into new directions and new service to others and I admire your enthusiasm about it. I can tell by the way that you expressed it that it makes you very happy and fulfilled in ways that you might not have imagined in the past. I also feel that those you will be helping and serving are blessed to have you. I know you will put your whole heart into it.

Your "Joes" are lucky and blessed to have you, Bear from what Pid has said about the way you care for the men you lead.

Big hugs to both of you. You warm my heart.

Bear's clearly a "people" person Leos have that, not necessarily twinkle in their eye, but that *something* that makes them seem a great person to be around. It's interesting contrasting the Fire signs (we should do a topic on this). Sags are more bubbly and goofy, Aries are like flint.

It's curious how much of our personality is determined through our looks (again, we should do a topic on this).

BTW Pidaua, I think Bear was born around the same time as one of my friends...

And you have very fortunate genes

Love,

Xena

This is really beautiful to see, and a wonderful reminder of how supportive Sags are as a partner.

Congratulations to you Bear! What an awesome ceremony that must have been. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures and the event with us Pid!

I'm so happy and glad for you both, it truly is a gift to find a person you can connect with on soul and emotional levels. And it is true, relationships and marriage don't just go on their own. It takes a great deal of work, communication, and honesty between two people.

Blessings to you both!
Hugs,
GG
