What is intelligence? Is it simply based on those excruciatingly monotonous I.Q tests? Or is there more to it than that? Often people who are say, genius in mathematics , etc, lack in other areas. I heard of such people who worked for government central head quarters here. There were people they knew there who were extremely clever at some things, and yet lacked common sense or were impractical at other things, even neurotic in some ways.
Tony Buzan's book, "Head First" explains how we have at least, to make it general, 10 different types of intelligence. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Head-First-Youre-Smarter-Think/dp/0722540469
Tony Buzan is the author of the books about how to increase your I.Q, how to master your memory and is the inventor of "min-mapping". Last but not least, if the way we behave and perceive things are down to the construction of the biological body with all its chemistry......then what is soul intelligence?
Ever wonder about these things? IP: Logged |

listen to trees-i don't believe intelligence has to do with those i.q tests. yes, einstein had some astronomically high number for his i.q. so does stephen hawkings. they are brilliant; they are intelligent. some peopdle just don't test well!!! to me, intelligence goes beyond a book yet we do gain more knowledge from reading and our studies. there is practice in intelligence - meaning putting lessons learned into the who of who we are. intelligence comes from "knowing". the understanding of a higher S-elf, the karmic debt, the eternal of life, the humility of being human, Love, the compassion to all beings & creatures, the ability to forgive, non-judgment with the smarts to know when it is best to keep someone at arm's legnth, being able to read a book and discern for ourselves what we want to take away from it while not having to buy it hook, line and sinker. the ability to say i'm sorry. i could go on with what defines intelligence, at least for me. there are genius' out there; the one's whose minds and beings have helped pave the road and redefine. can i say that these people may have understood more than i and in a different way than i, yes. but do i, for one second, find myself to be unintelligent because of that fact, no way!!! many blessings

IQ tests don't work well on many neurodivergents like Dyslexics,Dyspraxics,Aspergers, definitely not Autistics...especially with nonverbal ones.I am Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,ADHD....those type of tests don't work on me Neptune in 3rd,Mercury parallel Neptune - my mind is hard to pin down but definitely been mistakened for having lack of intelligence though....especially when I was with the mentally retarded in special education when I was in 1st grade. i think intelligence is a fake concept created by human to categorize between people. some people are intelligent in emotional relationship, some are full of knowledge, some are intelligent in their dealing with people (could be seen as manipulation) some are intelligent because in the systematic implementation of their theoretical understanding, and more that my limited intelligence cannot think of...also, i think this concept is socially constructed. if i look up wikipedia, i'll have a definition, but if i look up in wikipedia in 30000 years i might find a different one. so for me there's nothing as THE intelligence. ps: but for the sake of harmony, (and because my view above is necessarily partial) i'll say that those who are socially considered intelligent might eventually benefit from previous life's knowledge about the true nature of life (for me love) and because they know (or knew) that love was the only real thing, then may be they got reward considered today as intelligence, but i think it all stems from an appreciation and understanding of LOVE (the essence of life). to be clearer, i think someone involved in his day to day life without regard to essential truth is as intelligent as someone that lives his life by the book, trying to fit into an universal concept of truth. cause the former is just as realistic, if not even more, about his significance in the universe than the latter, who consider himself somehow above his real place. the only intelligence i can think of is the intelligence of the heart. the fact to love everyone, even the one who hates you (ok it sounds cliche but it's my venus in pisces i think)edit IP: Logged |

Good replies, everybody. (Sorry I'm tired right now to respond to each person individually). = Spiritual intelligence? Animals generally excel at practicing these principles too. (Think about how loyal dogs are, how profound elephants are). IP: Logged | |
