My theory is: it's because it's not sweet. As children we are accustomed via our DNA history to gravitate towards eating sweet things raw, because these are seldom if ever poisonous.Basically, in nature, sweet is safe. Anything else that is sour, or bitter takes a bit of time for a person to acquire the taste. personally, I hate tomatoes. They must be masked with balsamic vinegar, olive oil and something else to be palatable. IP: Logged |

If you need to enhance the tomato's taste with vinegar, lime or some other crap you are not eating real tomatoes.

Costanza is a god.Yin, I agree. A friend of mine grows the most delicious tomatoes. They're one of the best things I've ever tasted. It's hard to find a good tomato, though. The ones in supermarkets don't even taste like the same food. IP: Logged |
