Sure, there are similar venues all over the web, but I've yet to find one so well layed-out. The attractive design is part of what makes me feel comfortable here. But I think the credit for making Lindaland what it is belongs to all of us. All of those who have helped with the nuts and bolts of the operation, as well as all of the other busy bees who help to make this place interesting, informative, human, and vibrant with life.

I'm not sure you do. You have an unfair advantage, Eleanore. You are permitted to speak freely in Randall's defense. We are not permitted to share our own interpretations. House rules. Suffice to say, there is a lot I could say.

I am permitted to speak within the same bounds everyone is permitted, HSC. And we are all permitted to share our own interpretations, at least as far as we are able to control our tempers and present ourselves respectfully. I have read numerous responses where people have shared their personal perspective about what is happening or has happened at LL. And I certainly can see where my idea of calm and respectful does not align with someone else's. But my point is that although I can appreciate the points you and others are trying to make, I disagree. No one but dafremen has been booted out of here. Randall reserves the right to ban people. Everyone else who has left has done so of their own volition as is their right. I can respect Randall's right to give people opportunities to be better behaved, and he has granted many of us those opportunities over the years, but I can also respect his right to say enough is enough. Which he has. None of us has to like it. If we don't like it, we may leave. I cannot fathom choosing to remain in a place where I was at odds with the rules of conduct or the management. I think Randall has made his decision perfectly clear, concise and understandable. The only problem I see is that some of us don't want to accept his decision nor accept that the day when Randall would finally put his foot down is here at last. IP: Logged |

I realize there is a chance I may be making myself quite unpopular by posting as I have in this thread. I can accept that. I feel I have taken enough of this thread off the track that Randall wished it to be on. quote:

A) If it's not a targeted response at me, why did my name come up twice?
B) I don't understand how the analogy of a house is even remotely comparable to a website. There's (virtually) no threat of physical violence on a website. C) I do not believe Randall's remarks are in the spirit of Linda because the mentioned quotations are in reference to a physical situation. This is a cyber situation. I do not wish to continue a long winded argument about what Linda would do. WWLD? And as HSC said, Eleanore, you are one of Randall's closely guarded, and therefore have the right to free speech. The ones who want to leave will leave. They will tell us or will simply stop posting. Maybe some are unsure atm. Maybe some know more --and better than others. Do they now have to state they are going to leave? Will you now unregister them if they say they are leaving? Why are you demanding to know? LTT started a thread saying she's leaving. There's one. No one simply leaves. They always post a string to get attention to that fact. I'm just making it more streamlined and with less drama, so they can post here on one string, and we can quickly move on. Maybe I want some to take shots at me, because I'm just aching to hit that ban button. Or maybe not. Who knows? ------------------

What are you talking about?  Many people have just left, without telling anyone or posting a string about it. You recently said that astrojunkie just dissapeared and there are countless others who have too. People often wonder "what happened to so-and-so"? Your trying to make it more streamlined and with less drama isnt working because it isnt really the issue. "Quickly moving on" isnt always the best mode of operation either. Things left undone or swept under the rug have a way of coming back to haunt you. IP: Logged |

I meant those who leave over drama. I have yet to be haunted by any of my decisions. I do the best I can given the current information, and if I think I could have done better, I make a personal note for next time. ------------------

Randall is very fair and it takes a lot to be banned from LL; he also has given knowflakes many chances and has let others returned after being banned.Randall, I support you, I just want you to know that... I thought you left. I have no wounded Ego. If you think otherwise, you have been misled. You have been misled by a few things, actually. I have no Ego at all as it relates to Lindaland...just a protective father's instincts. I always stand by my decisions. Right or wrong, it has led to some very interesting discoveries (and I always love learning new things) and made Lindaland a better place, because it led me to take on more Mods and to adhere to a stronger enforcement of the rules. ------------------
