I think everyone should establish this holiday in their lives!!After an emotionally and mentally grueling work season, I am FINALLY DONE. I have one entire month of blissful unemployment before I get back to work to start another season of madness. Yesterday, I finally got out of the woods. YAY, my car started. I got to go to the bank, the post office, and Target!! Its the simple things... My family and friends are eagerly awaiting me to drive the 1700 miles back home- I haven't been there in over a year. I am feeling the pressure to hurry up and get there. However, for the first time in 10 years- I have my own home. No annoying free-loading men, just me and my own entertainment. So I bought some lovely fresh food (wow!! real food for the first time in months!) and I drove BACK in to the isolated wilderness. No job, no deadlines, no anything. I haven't been this happy in months. I am wandering around my place, munching organic bananas and grinning ear to ear....'cause I can do what I want. I know that no one has this weird lifestyle like I have... but... take a day. Send the kids to grandma's house, turn off the phone, take a bath. Lay around watching bad TV, eat chocolates, and don't get out of your PJs. Or, do whatever you want. Its your day. For the first time in forever, I am guilt free...free of the mental to-do lists and the constant striving to be everything for everyone else. My family will just have to deal that I will show up sometime next week Love you all- MK IP: Logged |

You seem to be in a good place right now MK. Definitely a good "do what I want day". It's good knowing you have one month to just do what you feel like and there will be an end to it, when you get back into work mode.Sleep in as long as you want, go where ever, whenever. I like that. Have fun! IP: Logged |

Omigosh!!!!!!You know what? I added you, went 'cool' then promptly forgot! ( Placenta-brain actually sticks around when your baby is almost one, no joke! I'm sure there are clinical trials somewhere that prove it.) I'm going to go bug you right now, because I miss you! So there. IP: Logged |

What a great post! Good for you, appreciating those simple things.I'm going to have me a day like that. Yeehaw! I've always had a daydream of going to a sushi restaurant on my own for lunch and stuffing my face whilst reading a cracking book. Perhaps Gooberz, when it comes. (oh when will it come?!) I want so much sushi they'll have to wheel me out of there. It's never happened but I'm goingto save so I can do it. Sushi is too expensive in this country but I am going to save. Then I will go home and watch Brief Encounter and be permitted to cry like an eejit whilst eating a wedge of brie and crackers followed by a good attempt at a box of Terry's All Gold. I could replace the sushi with cheese and cider fondue at a push. Mmmmmm.
