Anyone got any suggestions for a fancy dress outfit? It's for a sponsored walk. 22 miles with no guarantee of fine weather. I know someone did the London marathon in a deep sea diving suit, but he is bigger and fitter than me ~ so I'd rather not wear anything too heavy. My charity is the local childrens' hospice so I thought maybe a favourite kid's story character ~ a sexy nurse thing is hardly going to be in good taste. Irritatingly this seems to be the limit of the imagination of costume companies. I'm happy to try and make my own, though. I've got a sewing machine gathering dust. IP: Logged |

One word. Ninja. You can layer, so if it's cold, you're covered, and if it's hot, you can peel something off and still have the ninja look, just more "Mortal Kombat" style... Good luck and thanks for doing something so wonderful!! Ghani IP: Logged |

Is this too fancy?? Gosh, I hope 2-inch-plus heels aren't de rigeur..... Or perhaps something a bit more conservative from the 17th/18th century: I know!! Elvira, Mistress of the Dark Kudos for your supporting such a worthy cause IP: Logged |

Raggedy Ann Dorothy Eloise Madeline Little Red Riding Hood Goldilocks Characters along those lines wouldn't take too much work, I don't think. Accessories would help make them work well and those aren't often too heavy. Good luck!
*edited to add* Not sure what you mean by fancy, though. Princesses always work well as fancy ... like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White. But I imagine it would be harder to walk around in those kinds of outfits. Maybe dressy flats and no hoopskirt deal would make them more accessible.

Thanks everyone. There is hill involved so the boots would help me up but not so helpful on the flats. Little Red Riding Hood is a good one. Obvious without having to have too many accessories. If it was waterproof that would be good too, lol. IP: Logged |
