Hi LEXX I haven't tried this one, but a friend of mine in Florida has: http://www.jajah.com/ If your computer can handle the software and you can lay your hands on a headset, gtalk (or one of those) is the way to go: http://www.google.com/talk/ InLoveWithLife talks to her Mom and sister in India every day that way (for free!!)..... www.skype.com PC to PC calls are free anywhere in the world. PC to landline calls are really low...to mobiles, it just depends on whether their mobile company has a mobile termination fee. IP: Logged |

I just did texting from yahoo IM to my cell phone, to and from. It works. But I pay for a bundle every month for texts from t-mobile, $4.99 for 200 texts. IP: Logged |

Hi LEXX,If your friend in the UK has their cell phone set up to receive the text information from their Skype account, then yes. You can send text messages via Skype to that person's cell phone. If it's your own cell phone, I believe it's free, but you have to find out from Skype. The only thing about Skype is that you don't get a whole lot of information from them before you sign up and you might feel like - why am I signing up for some service that doesn't provide a lot of information up front? That's how I felt, but they have turned out to be an EXCELLENT service to have. I have used it as a long distance phone service through my PC for astrology clients all over the world from Ireland to South Africa. FREE! They are fabulous, I highly recommend them. If you are in the states and you want to speak to Canada, there is a charge of about 2 cents to 5 cents a minute or something like that, but the IM service through them to Canada is free. I go to uniontelecard.com and purchase a Mega Clean or Purple card, depending on which country I want to call. China and Israel are economical (very) using those cards, and I believe there's still no monthly service charge taken off. IP: Logged |
