Was anyone else completely blown away by the opening ceremony at the olympics last night? It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I never saw it, but as I switched on this morning, someone from my home city was winning in the judo. Then he lost by one point. *pout*Nice pics. IP: Logged |

Men's gymnastics is on right now here.I saw the opening ceremonies but fell asleep during the parade of nations...I woke up in time to see Sarah Brightman standing on that ball and the lighting of the torch. It was amazing to watch, very surreal. The timing of the drummers and those boxes, beautiful. IP: Logged |

It wasn't her singing. They transposed another girls singing voice but the other girl was not allowed to sing in public because they didn't think she was pretty enough! So they substituted the girl you saw.I thought the opening scene was awesome but I feel sorry for the Chinese. They look like and perform like machines, There seems to be no passion for what they do, just a sense of duty. Having said that Michael Phelps is looking a tad bored now with all the golds. He needs to take a leaf out of us Brits book. We celebrate that bronze you better believe it. And if one more Brit says "I have seen this Olympics (read: when I came last) as a learning experience. NO!!! It wasn't a bloody training camp. You were supposed to try and win!!! IP: Logged |
