Ok, I never watched American Idol, but WOW amazing performance-- this is obviously old news, but with all the talk there was I just googled this... I actually think David Archuleta should've won now that I googled all the others. What a talented Capricorn He'll definately go far and be successful!

hi silverstone

i love this show. we have our own australian version and i become hooked on it. it's just staggering that there could be such brilliant talent out there - just sitting at home. it amazes me. i know these shows sometimes get bagged, but i enjoy them. and thank goodness for youtube. i love watching the routines from "so you think you can dance" there.

thanks for sharing.

Hi, PeaceAngel,

I was very amazed by his brilliance; he has a record coming soon and his new single is already out! Archoleta is actually much more popular than David Cook now

David A was robbed! Haha. Me and my sister had a ten dollars bet on the outcome. I of course bet on Archie. She always picks her favorite musicians on how handsome she finds them. So I was needless to say, annoyed.

PeaceAngel,
We had an australian contestant on this year. He was my second favorite. Michael Johns. Have you heard of him? He was voted off way too early. Im a big fan of him when he sings blues music.

Isn't Archuletta a Capricorn?

I suggest watching Daughtry's "I Walk The Line" if you want an electric performance.

Sorry..I thought it was a amateur version.
His "singing" did not move me at all.
Not impressed.
I know two people who can do it like John Lennon (maybe even a bit better!) and have the look too.
I really wish they would audition for someone.

OK..watched it again....I hate this kid's singing.
I've heard better from people just goofing off.

Birth Place: Miami, FL
Date of Birth / Zodiac Sign: 12/28/1990, Capricorn http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/david-archuleta/292526

I accidentally went on the first one thinking this was him, LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Archuleta_%28kickboxer%29

I agree, Lotus, he is very original-- and only 17 years of age. I think Cook won American idol, but Archoleta won the heart of America, and it gave him the exposure he needed to propel him to the top!

They are both very talented.

However, IMHO, David Cook all the way through, was much more original and more in line with what AI was looking for in mainstream music. They want what sells and would appeal to the masses in a larger range of ages.

I wonder when David Cook's first CD will be out...

I thought Archuleta was the obvious choice from the start of the competition, but Cook was the one who won the hearts of America... and probably rightly so. Cook showed he had a great personality throughout. I didn't think his performances or song choices were always strong, but his personality always showed through. Meanwhile Archuleta was strong throughout. Archuleta also had some poor song choices.

Archuleta came across as sufficiently humble, but there wasn't as much personality. His story of being an aspiring singer under his parent's management smelled of cute, blond, female teen popsters. It turned out to be much less compelling than the story of a [Mutable Sun] lefty rocker [like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Paul McCartney] who tends bar, wears his emotions on his sleeve, and whose terminally ill brother made it into the David Cook American Idol storyline.

Archuleta's Imagine was great, though. He proved that the beautiful sentiment could be accompanied by a beautiful vocal melody.

Definitely!

Truthfully, I do not think that David Cook has a good personality. Here's a good example; barely looks people in the eye when he speaks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCUZjcgwsTs

Archoleta is simply young, which was his limitation in the show in the end. I think Cook is great too in performance; however, I think with Cook, his voice is not unique--his voice sounds like many other artists out there. Archoleta is original, just my opinion and I believe he'll go far... Archoleta's album will be out sometime this year

I remember discussing that with a friend of mine as well. I much prefer an original voice.

I have to agree. I really did like Cook, but all his songs sounded the same and I did feel he was too mainstream for me. I guess thats exactly what theyre looking for, but when it comes down to singing, Archuleta was more talented. Especially on a technical level.
He did come off sort of shy and dorky. But cmon! Hes seventeen. With a very pushy stage dad. And lets face it, Cook was just plain cool. And thats why he won.

but the real test is selling records...I would buy Micheal Johns cd, I would also buy that Brooke White. I really like her Joni Mitchell style. She is just cool.

Both the David's are OK....but Michael johns has style.

yeah, i was aware of that. i'm sure i remember reading (probably on the people magazine website - lol! - that some famous aussies, including nicole kidman and keith urban were big fans of his.

there's been some real success stories from american idol. jennifer hudson. carrie underwood. the biggest - kelly clarkson. she's awesome.

Oh, yea. Brooke White. I loved her too. I agree completely. I would buy Brooke's or Michael's over the Davids anyday.

YES! David Archuletta was AWESOME!
Of course I'm a little swayed because he lives in Murray, UT which is where I'm from. He goes... or went.. to my daughter's high school.
She went to the big bash at the high school that they showed on tv.
They still have a huge poster up on the side of the high school of him.
And I heard his new single on the radio the other day and couldn't believe it was him! He's grown so much by being on the show.. it really helped his voice.
