So I was talking to a woman at a social gathering yesterday, and she was talking about something(her kids i think) and started crossing her arms for a bit...It seemed weird, and later during the gathering, she seemed a bit "aggressive" when a discussion came up, almost to the point trying to make me feel stupid, and didnt want to be helpful.

So, was she threatened by me? ive searched arm crossing, and from what I get, it means someone is uncomfortable. what do u assume when someones arms are crossed? i dont normally opt to focus on people's behaviors/signs, but for some reason her aggressiveness, and her arm crossing is on my mind...bad mix i guess.

arms crossed is supposed to be like placing a barrier between you and the other person. it's highly defensive.

did she also shut her eyes? if someone is shutting their eyes while talking to you - they're blocking you out.

It's defensive body language.

Maybe she has a hidden problem relating to whatever you were discussing. Something private about it she didn't want to reveal in the circumstances. I doubt it is personal to you, if you were in a different setting she might open up more.

She was definately closing you out!!
Crossing arms is almost like someone putting in ear plugs or pulling back and not wanting to have two way communication...
Its interesting that you say you "think' she was talking about her kids when she crossed her arms....Did her crossing her arms have an impact on how well you listened to what she had to say?
Ohh and PA i knew someone who used to close thier eyes alot to everyone while she was talking!!! She always felt her opinion was the only right one!!

oh, how annyoying would that have been! really rude and arrogant.

actually - a really good tactic which i've used a couple of times is if you see someone you really don't want to run into or talk to - engage them in a really long conversation - and everytime they say they have to go - keep talking so they can't get away. guaranteed - next time they see you - they'll avoid you. it's priceless! rofl.
