Shoes. I know what I like about every other item of women's attire but shoes.... I just can't wrap my head around shoes. What's nice, what's not. I always feel like they're wearing me and I feel silly. But I need some shoes, of the following kind. As I cannot wear my steel-toe boots with this outfit.

Specifically black, specifically sexy without being slutty.

I've had a look on ebay and everything but it's like showing a dog a card trick honestly.

I do know that I like sort of classic stuff, not too bling.

This is a genuine question as I am bamboozled.

I know that there are people out there who have a passion for shoes (Sunshine is one!)so please make some of it rub off on me. Thanks in advance!

shoe mall dot com is a great shoe place. kind of expensive, but get in your head what you want and then look at other stores if you don't want to spend a ton of money! with what you said, i think the mary janes (open toe) would be nice or the first boot shown. depends on the outfit.

I'm useless at anything to do with fashion.

Generally, I take someone male shopping with me, a friend, or though I hate to sing mr bm's praises, he is generally quite useful. They tend to be honest if something doesn't suit me, doesn't fit properly or looks slutty.

Female friends are fun to shop with but are more likely to tell me I look great in everything which is far from the truth. I also end up spending far too much.

Hey wheels!

Do they have to be black? When I wear black I prefer a neutral shoe or one rich in color that can go with more than just black attire. I have a nice pair of grey shoes and an purply/eggplant colored pair I wear when I'm wearing black (which isnt often. i prefer wearing gray or white instead) For some reason I always steer clear of black shoes and go with something a little different to jazz things up a bit. lol A pair that will go with just about anything. I wear alot of earth tones so maybe that's why - black shoes do not go with most of what's in my wardrobe...

anyway
Here's a nice dark grey pair:
They look classic and sexy but not slutty to me...and not too bling
a nice low heel and come in other color options

I'll look around some more and share what I come up with...

you get used to them. I had a waitress job in college that required 3 inch heels. she actually would measure your heels and if they weren't 3 inches, you were sent home. But I waitressed as a side job for so many years, that I am very comfortable in heels. although it's getting cold here now, so my shoes are getting boring due to the weather.

Hey all!!

Thanks for your help! I sort of like the second pair you posted Sunshine, the other ones I'm not sure about, not because they're not nice they just look too grown up for me, as in womanly. I honestly think in my head I'm still 14.

They do have to be black. Only because I'll get more wear out of them than if say they were red. And the outfit is black, and sexy -a lacy number which is why I didn't want to go too OTT but didn't want to look like a spinster.

I like both the pairs you posted T. The second ones are groovy. I have tons of groovy shoes but no sexy ones. They are sort of more like me I guess. Although if you combined the style of T's little button shoes with the height of the second pair of Sunshine's then that's sort of near...

But sort of slutty is ok too, as long as it doesn't scream streetwalker!

Oh I wish I could be sexy! You know how some women are just...sexy. I know I'm pretty but I don't feel I'm sexy at all. I look at some women and they just ooze it.

oh yes, those are nice. skinny heel though, won't hold up to a ton of dancing. gotta make sure they are comfortable too. I have seen your picture. you ARE sexy. you have natural beauty. and no amount of makeup can compete with natural beauty.

Check these out, funky or what! What's the opinion on contrasting colour shoes with black?

Am I gonna look like an arse?

wow sunshine! i waitressed many years myself - not in heels though - that mustve been tough. but yeah, i imagine youd get used to it. and you are right about needing to 'own' what you are wearing.

when you find the perfect pair wheels, wear them around the house for awhile and get good and used to them. when youre not used to or uncomfortable with what you are wearing it tends to show. ..the shoes may be just what you need to bring your sexy out

i'll keep looking....

yes, if you wear those tourquise ones, makes sure you get a little bag to match and accessorize with that color. earring too. GAWD I love costume jewlery! very very nice. I have the perfect bag for those shoes, if you lived this side of the ocean you could borrow!

Ok, I will fess up here. I'm not really going to go out in them... so they don't need to be robust. I am sort of playing dress-up if you know what I mean. arrggh
And thanks Sunshine, I'm not looking for a ego-massage at all but your sweetness is appreciated! I dunno, Uranus in the 8th arggh, I really do want to do all this sort of stuff but I'm so unpractised. Just want to embrace the sexy, you know? Instead of just holding out palm and saying "That is not me" when secretly I'm thinking "Ohhh. I want that to be me". I just shy away from all that all the time and I think I'm missing something.

Sorry if it's a bit graphic but... really stuck!

(i love those jade/green-blue colored ones) my opinion on that is that is that it's perfectly okay, but i'll admit i know next to nothing about fashion do's and donts....so maybe don't listen to me. imo though, black shoes are boring. that might be the artist in me coming out..

being 'different' is better. in a black or very neutral ensamble a dash of color can be really sharp and make the whole outfit....at least that's how I see it.

i think Tink's into shoes and fashion....where's she?
