I'm just wondering if people have any tips for relaxing before a performance.I perform with an improvisational acting troupe, and with my Virgo Moon and Gemini Rising I can be anxious. Plus, I think it would be a good skill to learn to relax. IP: Logged |

AGThere's an awareness exercise that works for me. Start by feeling your feet on the ground. It grounds you. Then you can either work your way up through your body releasing tension part by part. Or, after grounding, feel the air on your face. If that doesn't work, orgasm is balancing and relaxing - so sex or masturbation. Tell your partner or your hand it's for relaxation purposes. lol...that's funny. I can just imagine excusing myself before the show starts for a little self-satisfaction.Currently, we just drink moderately to loosen up, and that does seem to help a lot. It also helps if I'm not involved in a lot of commotion ahead of time. The one time we were faced with a serious adversity right before the show was definitely my worst show. I really just want to teach myself to be comfortable when my instincts are to be uncomfortable. LTT, That was hilarious and cute. It's not a bad idea, though. There's low-cost, clothes-on massage at my local mall. IP: Logged |

AGWhen performing, quite honestly, the best way to relax is this: not give a toss about what anyone else thinks. I think the anxiety you feel is because you want to be good and worry about the audience. Go out and do your thing. There's gonna be people who love or hate you no matter what. Do it for your own enjoyment, and they'll see that you're having a good time and go along for the ride with you. btw - the orgasm suggestion wasn't a joke. That's absolutely genuine. EDIT: I'm not a fan of drinking. It gives you false sense of security/confidence. IP: Logged |

I do worry about being good. I probably wouldn't be this way if I'd never been bad, but one bad performance is enough to shake a Virgo Moon. And it wasn't the last performance that was bad either. We've had a couple shows since then. I just figured I may as well put a question to the forum to see what kind of responses I get.My first show I was excited about, and I got probably the biggest laugh of the night for my portrayal of a sperm. We were doing a skit in which one actor is sent out of the theater. Then we get an unusual place for a Coffee Shop from the audience. That night the audience chose the womb. We then brought the actor back in, and she became the barrista at the coffee shop. I was one of the three people to take turns going into the coffee shop to give hints to where she might be. Naturally, I was a blind, squiggling sperm calling out for egg much to the barrista's confusion. The audience was dying laughing. It was awesome. Perhaps "sperm" is a key ingredient.
