What are some little things that make you happy? Sometimes I feel like I focuse on the negative more than I should.

Here are a few things that have made me smile in the last day or two;

Finding a new song that I absolutely love

The sky turning pink before the sun sets

A lightning storm on the horizon

Wind blowing in my hair, and sprinkles of rain falling on my head

The sound of rain outside my window.

My dog being scared of thunder and snuggling up to me as we watched Mr. Smith goes to Washington

Getting pakages in the mail

New books!

How about you?

a toothless baby smile

viewing 26T`S art

puppy breath

reading hsc`s mystical poetry

surprise`s packages from England

tink and eleanore, just because

sunsets over Torch Lake

watching baby chicks hatch

nosiS`s and a.g.`s Cinquain`s

finding my first spring wildflower

birds singing to stimulate springtime`s tree buds

smell of the library archives

one little thing i'm thankful for is my new 70 year old lady best friend. My new "Grandmother".

she's sooooo cute. I really think she's an earth angel sent from heaven. That God is working through her and I told her so.
and so did one of her friends who's a nun!
she doesnt believe it and "doesnt go to church". But like the nun said; "That doesnt matter." (cool nun!)

She's got a heart of gold.

Christmas songs.
Cats being sick everywhere.
Horses coming to see me when I get there.
Sound of cars through my bedroom window and the chirpy birds in the early hours.
Living in a house with no shouting maniac.
My quilt which is warm and just really nice to sleep under.

  • My son meeting me at the door when I get home from work, waiting impatiently for me to get my ice-cold coat off, then grabbing me for a big squeezy hug
  • Driving to work at this time of the year -- just prior to sunrise -- and watching the clouds turn from light pink, to bright-pink, to salmon, to orange as I make my way into the city
  • emails from friends
  • Someone who tells me, "wow, what you said really helped me"
  • A new book or cd
  • The feel of good-quality fleece on your skin
  • one of my kitties who waits until I settle in bed with my quilt/blankets mounded around me, then snuggles as close as he can get to my back or side
  • with a knee that's been injured for several months, I appreciate the simple joy of being able to walk around pain-free
  • the heavenly aroma and taste of my new Tulsi rose-flavored tea
  • just-perfect ripe kiwis (not En-Zedders, the fruit )
  • The medley "Drown in Pale Light/The Secret, the Candle and Love" by Andreas Vollenweider
  • A special picture I have on my desk of my (deceased) dad
  • The smell and feel of my favorite orange bar soap, or the TeTao shower soap I have (both of which are discontinued so I can't get them any more )
  • Digging thru all the boxes of Mom's familiar Christmas ornaments and decorations (which are mine now that she's in the nursing home) that I haven't seen in years
  • Kissing my son on the forehead while he's sleeping
  • The smell of ham in the oven, or celery/onions cooking on the stove
  • The first bite of Harry & David's chocolate truffles melting on my tongue

*Raw oysters on the half shell and sushi
*Fluffy, full white bedding that I can sink down into
*Bearnaise sauce with rare steak
*Baking bread or cookies really late at night
*Snuggling with cats
*Daydreaming
*Reading in bed
*Opening gifts
*Buying and walking around in really expensive new high heels.
*Eating in bed *sigh*
*My flying dreams

Too many things, really

Cool idea!

Kissing my kids' faces all over-- especially the squishy parts of their cheeks!

An uninterrupted night of sleep that ends without the aid of an alarm. (Bliss!)

Folding towels fresh from the dryer.

Finishing a poem.

The song "Beautiful Way" by Beck. It's funky and gorgeous!

Getting the kids to bed early and enjoying a bottle of wine with the hubby.

The way snow and/or ice can turn the world into a fairyland!

Imported chocolate.

High threadcount sheets and down comforters.

Thick, sluggish thunderstorms.

Black and white photos.

Carbs in almost any form.

Standing outside at night (with my dog by my side), looking up at the stars.

Shooting stars.

The absolute unconditional love of a dog.

I love reading these, it's really rather lovely to get a glimpse into everyone . . .

Here are some of mine~

~ the smell and feel of freshly washed laundry
~ watching re-runs of tv sitcoms from Netflix (isn't this a great service?!?)
~ happy hour!
~ hearing a clever joke or a great come back
~ playing with my cat, he is 13 pounds of love on 4 legs and a catnip addict

Cheers,

Aphrodite

Coming back to Lindland after time away.

Classic movies

Hummus

The first day in fall when you need a sweater

A camera, an empty memory card, and time on my hands

The sound of leaves crunching under my feet

The first whiff of honeysickle in the spring

A long open road and a full tank of gas

Learning to knit. And being outrageously terrible at it. Lol.

My magically soft sink-right-in-and-never-want-to-leave bed

Conversations with my father that last for hours and still leave us completely disagreeing with everything the other person said. It gives us an excuse to argue more!

Memories of my childhood.

A necklace my mother once gave me when I was upset after school.

A specific beanie baby she once spent hours tracking down after I had four teeth pulled

The feel of someone brushing your hair away from your temple.

Tire swings and hopscotch, jump ropes, and side walk chalk. Crayons, and markers, and making mud pies.

Scarfs, and gloves

Fireflies!

Too many to mention, however a day recently when I was in a horrible muck....

Getting behind a mobile manger on the road, a pick up truck with a giant cage in the back that held a little burro, two goats and a ram.

Then...coming home on the day of The Solstice and finding two roses blooming, in December, one pink, one red.

Yes, the universe does bless us with gifts and our greatest gift, sometimes, is just to stop and notice.

A really tiny old man driving with a little dog in his lap.

Knitting my first scarf! Even if it is all wonky.

Perfectly ripe bananas.

A friend calling me at one in the morning to tell me shes coing over becuase she had a feeling I needed company. And her being right.

A new pair of pink shoes I was given as a gift. Theyre so my style.

Netflix and getting a new amazing documentary in the mail.

Having a safe warm place to come home to each night. Because I know so many people dont are not so lucky.

Garish christmas lights hanging on my bathroom ceiling year round.

A really hot and very bubbly bath

Yes!!
Sometimes that's the greatest Key of all to Small Happinesses -- just to be able to step outside ourselves long enough for Observer and Observed to become One, and to fill ourselves with the joy of the interaction.....
