You know... for people who don't really care about the game either way but who might keep it on as background noise since the entire nation is watching it and there's that party vibe going on...

Wooo Hooo!

I was born in Pennsylvania so the Steelers are the family team. I remember running around mortified in some huge golden yellow and black puffy coat as an adolescent girl. It was traumatizing.

But still...

I am not into football, but was also born in Pennsylvania....
So I'd choose the Steelers too!
I like their logo.

However no TV here, so will not be "watching" even for background sound.

As a little kid though, my dad and granddad
would have SB parties.
I loved to hear them getting all wound up...and yummy food and treats were great!

Cute "terrible towel" graphic you posted!

SHOULD'VE BEEN THE D*MN PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!!!!

It should've been a grand battle for Pennsylvania: Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh. We could've petitioned the league to have the whole show here in PA, and not even bother with Tampa, Florida.

D*MN IT, EAGLES!! WHY MUST THEY ALWAYS BREAK MY HEART?!?!?

Ok, and I so agree that a PA battle would be tons of fun.

And right on, Lexx, bring on the FOOD!!!!!!!!!

I will keep you posted on the game, Lexx. lol In my fashion. Maybe a commercial update or two if there is a good one.

Well, the Steelers were ahead 3, then 10 and then the Cards scored and have 7.

So, field goal, then touch down and extra point makes 10 and Cards touchdown and extra point.
I think.
It seemed like a slaughter up until that point. Now it is more interesting. Now I see why everyone said they were going for the "underdog".

I know as much about wine as I know about football...

Ohhh, someone on the Cards just had a long return... underdogs back in the game....

Being an Aussie, I don't know, so I have to ask. Is it really that big a deal, where everyone stops for it?

Oh geez, it's a staple of our ridiculously commercial society. I am a complete social reject for NOT being in attendance to some "Super Bowl Party" somewhere. I am invited to more than one but I went out Friday night and Saturday night and I am TIRED. So, it's an online party for me.

It's probably the biggest selling chip and beer day for grocery stores everywhere... hehe

The only people on the streets are the pizza delivery drivers, because the only citizens not watching it are the intellectuals and highly religious and it is almost their bedtime... LOL

Is anyone else even here at LindaLand from the U.S. ? hehe

OMG! It sounds just like Australia Day celebrations here.

Okay - now I get it.

We probably have fanatical sports days that draw in the commercial crowd too. I'm not a big sports follower.

You totally missed it, Zala, and he was wonderful. Great performer and lots of fun. Rosie and I were dancing and clapping.

Angel, companies pay millions of dollars for commercial time during the Super Bowl. People say over and over, "I just watch the Super Bowl for the commercials!"

And I just saw a good one. By a company called, "Hula". Something about how they are putting streaming television shows on your laptop because t.v. doesn't turn your head to mush, it only turns it partially into mush and more television is needed to turn it completely into mush. So, they made this product to turn our brains into complete mush and it is brilliant because there is no escape... "because what are you going to do?! Turn off your t.v. AND your computer?!? Mwahahahahaaa" And once your brains are mush we are going to suck them out with a straw... (a tendril crawls out of his suit... the actor is a Baldwin brother)

"Because we're aliens.
And that's how we roll."

DAMN! YOU STEEEEELERS! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!

*Sigh...* Yeah as you can tell I don't like those steelers Lol! So ergo I was hoping the Cardinals would send those metal heads off running in the other direction.

Still a well played game. The Cardinals really did hung out all the way till the end. Sooooo close! Ok, so maybe not too close Lol! Damn that touchdown...

Now I have to honour my arrangement with a female friend and be at her place in a Cop's uniform and strip to Pucifier's REV 22:20. That horny She-Devil!

Boring intellectual here.

Lol! Who says football is any less entertaining though an intellectual POV Lexx? Football is like Human chess in action . Its real time strategy in play.

Good point, X. I was thinking something similar last night. Also, that game was a true life cheesy sports movie. Dramatic plays like that would almost be over the top in a movie. It was seriously an incredible game.

I was just playing about the "intellectuals" line and I'm sure Zala and Lexx were mostly too. I consider most at LL "intellectual" and I think many were probably watching the game last night. It was pretty slow here for a Sunday afternoon/night.

And as for your comment about the Steelers...

hehehe

I hope the she-devil teaches you a lesson! (And don't think it has escaped anyone here that the Steelers were the team that was predicted to win and you made that bet anyway... )

OK...
first off, I NEVER said football was stupid or could not appeal to intellectuals.
It IS A COMPLEX GAME! It actually requires intelligence, just like chess to "play well".
I have watched it from a study point of view and found that aspect fascinating!
I had/and played John Madden video games (ex#2 took them during divorce). Quite complex indeed!

And, I would go to a game "in person!" if I could get good seats and it was handicap accessible!

I was simply replying to MysticMelody's sarcasm about

quote:

Zala and I both joked back. I guess my reply was not taken as a stab a humour by you....well I am not skilled at humour.
And I was doing what I said instead of watching the game.
I doubt few were doing the same.
I am not against football at all.
Its just not my thing, as not all sports appeal to all.

MysticMelody
I am from Pennsylvania but live in Ohio.
The Steelers/Browns "wars" here get rather intense!
Even had years back a little Steelers' uniform for my black cat.
I own a Steelers' stadium blanket, a terrible towel and other things Steelers.
I used to have a Steelers bumper sticker in my car's back window but a Browns fanatic wrote a profanity on it so I removed it.

Brought the movie "The Full Monty" to mind. Too bad we all don't get to see your "show"
